Game Thread 2010 Rose Bowl: Ohio State 26 Oregon 17 (Final, 1/01/2010)

As an outsider, my impression is that Oregon is a much faster team than you guys are thinking, and I think you will end up being surprised by it.

Also, I think it will come down to how Ohio State handles misdirection. If they can stay on their assignments then I expect a close matchup.

Agree about playing assignment footbal.. But I watched that Oregon State game and the first thing I was thinking to myself was that they aren't as fast as us. Maybe it just looked that way with how OSU compares to the rest of the Big Ten and then how Oregon and Oregon St. compared..idk..

I don't really give a shit about team speed or how much Oregon is going to surprise us with their speed, that won't matter when we are pounding the ball on the ground and their defense can do nothing to stop us

I figure if the Buckeyes can get bashed on the last three BCS losses; then I'll go ahead and evaluate the Ducks at Pasadena. (And I'm fully aware that this is meaningless)

The Ducks hadn't scored in eight consecutive quarters in Pasadena before Barner, a freshman backup running back, took the second-half kickoff in his own end zone and burst through the wedge. He sprinted to Oregon's first TD on a kickoff return since Jonathan Stewart did it Nov. 19, 2005.

Yes, I know the final score was 24-10 Ducks.

Both games without starting QB's. Dixon and Masoli missed those.

Our defense vs. their offense???

what specifically concerns you? the speed of their recievers vs. our DBs? mark me down as not worried

with Homan, Rolle, and Hines on the field in the nickel our defense will be just fine

but seriously, where specifically do you think we are going to get burned by their surprising team speed?

where?

the only speed that concerns me is coming off the edge of the defensive line, and Oregon doesn't have that

Yeah, they do. Rowe is a speed rusher. But they're weak at DT.

CFNews keeps saying this is a bad match-up for us every time they talk about the game which is stupid. Our strength matches up with their strength while our weakness matches up better with their weakness(power run game vs. undersized DL)

I know. (hence, the reason for my use of the word "meaningless")

Nothing gets by you, brother!

Easy there. Still got nearly a month till game time.

they don't have first round talent at DE like our last three bowl opponents, that is mostly what I was referring to, I probably shouldn't have referred to it as just speed off the edge

UF had two, LSU had 3 top-5 talents (Francois threw it away with off-field trouble).
