2010 Rivals/Scout/etc. National & Regional Rankings

Rivals.com Top 250 of 2010

Here are some names that stuck out.

101. Tai-ler Jones
107. Jordan Haden
119. Justin Hunter
132. Matt James
134. Dior Mathis
138. Gideon Ajagbe
155. Chaz Green
192. Braylon Heard
201. JT Moore
213. C.J. Fiedorowicz
221. Eric Mack
234. Robert Bolden
239. Nick Montana

All due respect to JT and the other 4-5 Ohio kids that made the 250.. but it's a total joke that Scott McVey is ranked below players like Moore, Tyrone Williams, and Jerald Robinson...

Same deal with Christian Bryant.

Ok glad I looked at the list before posting...Williams, Robinson, and Smith are on the list...

McVey and Bryant should be on this list somewhere...No questions asked about it...Rivals has been so high on Bryant and now all of a sudden not anymore...

42 from Florida
35 from Texas
28 from CA
16 from GA

Minny - 2
Michigan - 6
PA - 6
Ohio - 11
Indiana - 3
Illinois - 3
Iowa - 2
Wisconsin - 0

33 total in Big ten states

I am sure everyone can see the bias in these numbers...Really no need for an explanation...

I will say I understand that Florida, Caly, Texas produce lots of talent, but I have a hard time believing, that just those 3 state alone should make up half (121), yes half of the top 250 kids in the country, and 88 more than what is in all 8 big ten states combined...

I like this one as well, 1 player from the state of NJ, yes 1...

They said Christian Bryant is too slow for CB and too little for safety.

I still don't understand why they never value the opinions of the guys who follow Ohio HS football closely. Every year they come out with whack Ohio rankings.

Me either, everyone knows McVey is top 100 material, no worse than 250. Honestly that is just a joke. No way in the world Heard, Williams, etc. make the list over McVey, or Bryant for that matter. I'm pretty sure Rivals had someone at the D1 Championship game, so if they couldn't get it through their head there, it may never get through.

Storm Klein & Jordan Whitling didn't get much love at LB either, and the recruiting services are gonna be dead wrong about them too.

I'd take a McVey any day of the week... and twice on Groundhog's Day (especially if that happens to fall on NLOID).

You have Whiting who could possibly be reaching his ceiling and Klein who didn't play against a ton of competition. Not belittling them at all because I think both are great players. I agree their ratings were low and Klein was definetly top 100 but I see a difference in McVey. McVey plays at the highest level of competition possible, he has just began to develop physically (first year of consistent varsity was last year), and he had the production and "wow factor" to back up his potential. On top of that, 6 sacks in a state title game...not sure what else he could do.

Way too early to be calling a ceiling on 17 year old kids. Especially when you consider the lack of coaching/competition/ facilities at a lot of these high schools. Most are very raw in various degrees.
And then consider how our coaches develop talent. :oh:

I know its not college level, but I don't think Louisville Trinity is lacking in coaching, competition or facilities, aren't they the top team in football and on of the best schools academically? I mean I can see how some can say he's reached his ceiling it happens a good number of time with kids.

Not really. It can be very easy to see ceilings on players when you see them live and in person. I have no clue whether JW has hit his ceiling, but it can be clear once you see a player's frame, physical tools, and level of play.
