2010 polls - Pre-season and regular

I guess "spanked" was the wrong word choice. I actually tuned out of that game when Texas was up 20-3.

Losing to an unranked team has to count against you. In my humble opinion, the big 12 is somewhat overrated and getting the benefit of the doubt.

I guess the the big 12 can "beat up on eachother" and it help them but the big 10 cant.

Problem is the timing that teams has lost and won big games. Nebraska doesn't play another valid team the rest of the way out= SOS goes down. Nebraska lost earlier in the day to the OSU loss on primetime and it hurt us. They turn around and play a top 15 undefeated team in Okla St(not a good team but undefeated and highly ranked) and Mizz(another overranked team that was undefeated and just beat the so called #1 team). Timing was everything for Nebraska the last 2 weeks and we will catch up some toward the end of the year even without them losing.

Here is the link to the full standings.

You can see that the comps are hurting Ala, Wisky, and OSU. We were the low side on the human polls and need the last 3 games to help our comp rank. Combined victories of teams we have beat = 28. That sucks. Avg of 3.5 per team(thanks Marshall,EMU, and Minn). Nebraska combined of teams they beat = 34(including 2 undefeated teams the last 2 weeks when they played). Avg 4.8 per team.

Who did the play OOC and who else have they beaten? ND (stinks)?
The win against Wisky was big, but thats the only big win they have.

I know what you're saying.....but who has Mizzouri beat? They beat Oklahoma and no one else, then had a bad in conference loss to a 1 loss team. Mizzou beat Illinois and so did Sparty. Mizzou is two spots ahead of sparty.

this may not make sense because I am drunk...what I am trying to say is that Sparty should be ranked ahead of Mizzou and that the Big 12 puter love put Mizzou ahead of sparty as well as Oklahoma and Nebraska ahead of wisky.

am I losing my mind or is this a legitimate complaint?

Mizzou is still 4 in the puters.......after getting the plunger on Saturday.

Mizzou has 35/7 combined opponent wins. 5 per team. And lost to a top 12 team.

Mich St-34/8. 4.25. Lost to a top 20 team. And did so worse than Mizz.

teams ranked better than us in puters:

we are 16-no quality win, quality loss to wisky
15 Bama-makes sense

tie for 13
Arizona- beat iowa, lost to unranked Oregon state
Oklahoma State-no quality wins, double digit loss to neb

12-Standford-no quality wins, plungered by oregon
11-Wisconsin- makes sense, quality win at iowa, quality loss to msu
10-Michigan St- i'm skeptical of this- quality win vs wisky, plunger raped by iowa

everything below 10 i somewhat agree with except for Mizzou at 4. LSU and Neb tied at 6 is somewhat surprising.

Even with the scarlet glasses off, I can't understand being 16 in the puters.

That's what I said.

It's a biased system and right now Ohio State is the hated team.

The computers aren't biased. The humans are. Humans have us at 8. Comps at 16. OSU's combined opponent wins is why they are low.

Indeed and I have a problem with Oregon State being 18 in Saragin. No way should two quality losses and 1 quality win and one bad loss put them anywhere near a one loss team with a quality loss and a bunch of decent but not good wins. A good loss should never count more then a decent win.

The computers use theoretical models and equations that are based upon or written by humans.

There's just no reason to put much weight into something so subjective and here we are literally debating it and letting this system decide where hundreds of millions of dollars go and where championships will be decided.

Or if you're Ohio State "a good loss" shouldn't count at all.

MSU and Mizzou have strikingly similiar resumes and yet one is #4 and the other is #10. It just doesn't jive with me. I'm just not buying the 'puters this week. Good thing it only matters in week 13.

So you are upset we didn't move up a spot. We threw our option to debate where we are ranked out in Madison. Personally the only team I don't understand "jumping" us is LSU. They didn't play and gained alot. We played to crappy teams and didn't move. Oh well. We will move by beating the last 3.

Where do you believe we should be?

We are 16 in the puters and Iowa is 17...and they have 2 losses. 18 is Mississippi state with 2 losses. 19 is Arkansas with 2 losses. So OSU is grouped in with all the 2 loss teams at the bottom of the pile. Losses should matter more than perceived SOS.

In the grand scheme of things, it doesn't matter, win out and we are in the BCS. I just like to disect these things and complain.

I think Wisky should be ahead of either nebraska or oklahoma. OSU should be ahead of LSU and whichever B12 team isn't above wisky.
