2010 Heisman Trophy Discussion

I've seen AU a few times and he can play. The first time I saw him I immediately thought of TP. Both are physical freaks playing QB.

TP gets to make his case in about an hour. :)

Wow. I never realized that he just looks like TP with an Auburn jersey on.

Just turned on this game.

I hate these announcers so much.

I'd say it's a two horse race now between James and Newton
Right now, in a perfect world, I'd have to agree. But, Moore is gonna keep racking up numbers and Boise is poised to be unbeaten come December. If Auburn or Oregon slip up, and I think they will eventually, Moore will be the man left standing.

they are very similar. i was actually surprised how well TP's passing stacks up nationally. he has a few more picks though, and that results in a slightly lower passer rating.

on a side note, if you want to talk about rushing stats check out cam newton! he has 9 td's and double pryor's rushing yards. his only weakness is his 5 interceptions. if they keep running the SEC, i expect him to start getting some serious consideration. the next two weeks will be huge for him (vs. arkansas and vs. LSU)

well, the games vs arkansas and LSU have come and gone. cam newton completely shined in those two games. this guy is an absolute baller, and barring a disaster the heisman is his.

I guess we were due for our weekly quota of concluding the heisman race early.

Newton has been phenomenal, but I'll be very curious how he does against Alabama. His rushing numbers have been sick, but his passing numbers were not that great against Ark or LSU.

He will need a well rounded Iron Bowl performance to win, particularly with James running wild and Moore running a great offense against defenses that would make Michigan shudder.

well, a very poor showing and an ass kicking in the iron bowl would qualify as a disaster if you ask me. also, who cares what his passing numbers are if he is rushing for 200 against a defense like LSU.

He is a quarterback ... if he can't throw the ball against a good defense and can put up 200 yards on the ground, the world doesn't need another Denard Robinson ... lol.

The world may not need one, but that doesn't mean that CFB doesn't like them or the Heisman. As JWins noted, it's still far to early to award the trophy to anyone, but Newton is definitely shining bright at the moment on some big stages. Alabama would certainly appear to be the biggest test by far, but Newton has, up to now, passed the other tests.
