2010 Heisman Trophy Discussion

I don't think Robinson cost himself much today in his quest for the Heisman.
 Shocking, a contrarian viewpoint from Max.

His quest certainly isn't over, but this was a big hit to the momentum he had built up so far.

It wasn't just the interceptions (which is easier to swallow), his formerly magic feet looked much more human against a more physical and disciplined defense. MSU is a huge upgrade from the first 5 "defenses", and yet he'll face 4-5 more like this one (Wisky, Ill are similar, Iowa can be better, OSU is definitely better).

I don't disagree with this at all. The key is, if Robinson can return to the kind of production he had in his first five games, and if he can produce against Ohio State at the level he did against Sparty, I think he remains the favorite.

I don't know that he can do all this; all I'm saying is that this single game doesn't derail his campaign.

regular 500 yd outings seem a bit unlikely.

If he turns the ball over three times again against OSU, they will lose handily again and he will have established a very unflattering pattern in his biggest games

DRob is DONE. Who's won a Heisman when their HC can't even secure the job? And those feet of his is only going to wear down more as the B10 season progresses.

Ingram's chances are slim. Had 47 yds last week and 33 this week in arguably two of the biggest games of the season. Fact is Bama doesn't even need him to put up numbers to win.

Mr. Pryor is in the driver's seat.

Well, you can only expect so much from a great player with absolutely no support.

Michigan's defense is about as inept as I've seen in a Big Ten team not nicknamed "Hoosiers." They made Sparty look like the Patriots - which they assuredly are not.

how does putting up big numbers vs shitty defenses, like what Denard was doing, disqualify him, when Pryor has done the exact same thing?

Is TP throwing for 300 yards vs Indiana much different than Denard shredding them for whatever the yardage was?

If anything, TP's game vs Illinois right now is what's going to hold him back from being in the "drivers seat." Everybody busted on Denard for putting up numbers vs cupcakes, well what has TP been doing?

TP's game vs Illinois and now Denards game vs MSU will both be hits toward their campaign. Even though Denard still put up some numbers, the three picks will hurt.

No, right now, if anyone is in the "drivers seat" it's James out at Oregon. Then that Martinez kid at Nebraska.

It doesn't hurt Robinson, but when Pryor's already proven that he can perform at an elite level against quality opponents...it's just like icing on the cake. When Robinson goes stat crazy against piss poor competition, we're all waiting to see if he's good enough to do it against decent opponents. Today he finally played a solid defense and proved that he can't.

That is the difference between Pryor's work and shoelaces.

Denard hasn't faced anything in Miami's neighborhood yet...he faced the equivalent of Illinois today and peed down his leg...on his home turf. Get used to today's performance, because sparty showed that a team with a pulse on defense can not only contain denard, but better yet, force him into the bad decisions everyone thought he magically vanquished against the baby seal u lineup....

BTW, I'm not saying TP is in the driver's seat...I think the race is pretty much wide open now.

The difference is that TP plays for #1. I think you know this.

I don't think Robinson's out of it. It was always entirely contingent on a) Michigan not completely shitting the bed and b) him knocking off Ohio State. Still pretty much the same deal.
