2010 Arizona State Sun Devils Baseball

Wow. The ASU coaches have to be more in control than that. Hit their next batter, but don't lose control and run over to their dugout. The NCAA or the PAC-10 will take more of a response.

Not to say they didn't have reason. But you just need to stay calm.

I think they were just standing up for their player when it was obvious the USC coaches called for the ASU player to be beaned. The ball went behind the ASU players head, so it wasn't a throw to the legs. The umpire saw everything that happened and ejected the pitcher immediately and the ASU coaching staff wanted to let the USC coaching staff know that they didn't appreciate the potential skull shot on one of their best players. It was in the bottom of the 8th inning and the game was already over. ASU didn't retaliate in the 9th.

Understood, reag and agree. There was NO reason to call a bean ball at that point. It was childish and Bush League.

That being said, you still have to be in control. You can't get rattled and lose your cool as a coach, it doesn't show well to the team. The pitcher was ejected, the bench warned and I'm sure the Pac-10 will take action. Yelling at them didn't do much. Go out and yell at the umps and demand they take more action or whatever - yes. Defend your players - yes. Yelling at their dugout, eh, I don't see what good that did.

Maybe I'm wrong here. As a hothead myself, I have little room to critique others.

I think the players liked that he did that. ASU's coach Tim Esmay is usually pretty low key and he showed that he has a lot of fire and will stand up for his kids when necessary.

Tonight the beloved UofA Wildcats come in to Tempe. I hope we curb-stomp them back to Little Mexico. It's a non-conference mid-week game.
