2010-11 season predictions?

I'll be disappointed if tOSU isn't ranked in the top 5 pre-season.
Opening game vs. Marshall
Small school, but be careful their tricky and have more talent than people give them credit for, but all in all no problem for the buckeyes.

National Title ?
Phaha, no need to even ask.

With TP maturing and tOSU gaining more and more confidence after the Rose Bowl win, it's a done deal.:osu:

Other than Mark Ingram, who is equal/better than TP..?...

That wasn't the question.

For that matter; Ingram won because he put up impressive numbers on a team that is in contention for the NC. That's what the award is about. Will Ingram be a "more outstanding player" than the player that we are assuming TP will be? Not at all. But he'll put up good numbers if he stays healthy, and that's what matters.

As jwins has observed, Bama's #2 RB had impressive ypc numbers too. Ingram probably wasn't the best college football player this year. There might be a back somewhere that would have put up better numbers behind his line. We'll never know.

So the question of whether TP will be in NYC is easy. He'll put up good numbers on a team in contention for the title.

But I don't see his numbers being good enough to win it. I hope I'm wrong.

Undefeated season will come down to the road game in Madison IMO

At Iowa, too. Not sure who is coming back on their defense but we know what Vandenberg and their young RB's can do. <Tressel> It's never easy to win a Big 10 game on the road, especially at Iowa. </Tressel>

Miami's stud RB Cooper might be out for the entire 2010 season after he McGahee'd himself on that awful Citrus Bowl field. If Harris looks like he did vs. Wisconsin when he was pressured, then I think we can win in a walk. Should be a challenging national spotlight game, though.

Unrelated, but I didn't realize PSU plays at Alabama next year. Yikes.

Iowa's D returns pretty much everyone except Pat Angerer and perhaps Claybourne if he goes pro. They are losing some experienced OL, but that's going to be one solid team.

Wisconsin also pretty much returns everyone.

PSU is losing their QB, RB, a couple of OL, most of their DL and their entire LBing corp. Looking like a down year over there.

Michigan will be Michigan. No Defense = no real chance of competing with the big dogs.

Overall, favorable schedule given what we have coming back. Could easily see this team taking home the trophy.

If Ohio State makes themselves as difficult to defend as they did yesterday and IF one or both of Heyward and Gibson comes back for their senior year then a national title run is a distinct possibility and no defense in the Big Ten will be able to shackle Ohio State.

Possible people leaving early would be I assume Thad Gibson and Cam are the only two we could possibly lose. I personally feel Cameron is more NFL ready but both IMO need another year because you know how much people get caught up in numbers (sacks, tackles, etc)

We'll have Marshall, and Miami non conference so that's a pretty good challenge but we'll get through ok. It'll all come down to what we do @ Wisconsin and @ Iowa.

I really hope we beat Wisconsin due to the fact that Bielema (spelling?) stated after their bowl win "both teams who beat us are back on our schedule" something along the lines of owing people some loses. You combine that and him never giving OSU full credit and saying he hates losing to us really makes me hope we beat them. THat'll be a tough game. For once they'll have a QB returning that can do damage not to mention Toon out Wide plus the TWO running backs they have are great runners. I believe they still got a good Oline. They do lose Schofield and some others but they're going to be a very tough team.

As for Iowa. They'll give us trouble also no doubt with those WR's they have. Mcnutt was a monster in our game this year and beating them the way we did this year will only motivate them to play us hard. We're sorta use to people wanting redemption so it's not like we won't be use to it.

Everyone back on Offense combined with Berry, Hyde, and a better Duron Carter should really be a pretty balanced attack. I really think Hyde or the Smith kid from Indiana can really help us out from a power back standpoint. One of those two I bet redshirts and one will see playing time. We have a whole ton of backs though so hopefully no one leaves. Boom, Saine, Berry, Hall, Hyde, Smith.

Defense we'll be fine no matter who we lose. We always have been good on defense and probably always will be. If both Heyward/Gibson return oh boy this defense can/will be better than this past years. If Floyd comes about recruiting wise he IMO can help right away much like Simon did. We lose Spitler but people like Sabino, Sweat, and Klein will step up. Look out for Jordan Whiting my dark horse to really make some noise this upcoming year. Coleman hurts of course but otherwise we do return 3 starters in the secondary with Chekwa, Torrence, and Hines. We have a chance to be dominant or if some players leave a top 15 defense regaurdless.

Things look good.

I shaved my beard the night of the TSUN game this season. I haven't shaved since. My new beard growth is undefeated, and frankly, it looks meaner than the guy that works 3rd shift at the Circle K on the corner of W. Main and Williams. (I honestly hope he doesn't read this) I won't be shaving again until tOSU loses a football game.

Beating both Wisky and Iowa on the road will be difficult. If we return Cam and Thad I think we have a good shot....but those two teams will give us their best games of the year. I think JT is in Bret`s head a little bit so I am actually more worried about Iowa.

I think it is possible that we actually see Hines and Moeller slide in to the safety positions with O. Johnson in there too. The defense could be extra nasty next year. Go Bucks
