2010-11 season predictions?

Next season is a disappointment, with only 1 national title. 2011 we rebound and win 2. Book it. Done.

Hahahaha... I just spit my beer on my wife becuse of your post!!! In all honesty, I don't know if we make a legitimate run next year (but I hope we do), but 2011 we will be GREAT. TP will not make it to the heisman presentation nxt year, but he will be in the top 2 his senior year (may or may not win it, too early to tell) and we'll be in the NC game (may or may not win it).

Miami will be a tough game, no matter what anyone says. If Jacory is on, they are very very tought to beat. Luckily we have them at the Shoe and Cooper may be out.

As mentioned, @ Iowa and @ Wisky are also the big games. Penn State and Michigan are down next year (on different levels, PSU still way ahead of scUM), and we have them at home, but with those two there's always a chance at an upset.

And, as usualy, never underestimate the Zooker, and we're on the road for them.

Next year won't be boring, to say the least. Many big games, and Purdue should be improved and pretty good as well, but I think we'll be out for blood that game :)

Anybody care to guess what our linebacker rotation will be next year with Moeller (assuming he's 100%) back in the mix with Homan and Rolle? I know we end up playing a lot of Nickel, could we move a linebacker outside more in our "3-4" looks we've been showing this year? Maybe Moeller outside on the opposite side of the field as Nathan Williams?

Yea, Moeller already has played some nickel back (star) for us in 08. So having him out there sometimes could essentially give us the versatility of having both your base 4-3 or "3-4" linebacker and your nickel (whether 4-2-5 or 3-3-5) at the same time depending on whether we like the match ups in any particular game (probably would see him used more as the nickel in games against run based spread attacks as opposed to people who spread it and throw a bit more)

We will lose one of those away games and miss out on the National Championship game unless things get weird again at the end of the season...........
Still it will be an exciting season......13-1?

contribution from incoming recruits?

I am wondering if any incoming recruits could help in the 2010 season. It seems that Norwell has a shot at helping on the offensive line. I wish we had a 5 star safety or defensive tackle coming in.

We very well could with LaTwan Anderson and Shariff Floyd.

I think our success next year depends on our running game (I think the defense will dominate again and won't be responsible if we have any losses). If we can't run effectively and control games, it will put too much pressure on Pryor. It looks like Pryor is figuring it out, but we can't always expect him to throw for 250+ and be our leading rusher.

Not bashing anyone, just to be clear. Pryor looked so awesome in the rose bowl and I can't wait for 9-4-2010. I think the O-line improved tons from the beginning of the '09 season as well. I just hope we see one of our many, many RBs have a huge year. Seems to me we missed that threat we had with Beanie from '08, where any carry he might break off for a huge gain. It could be Saine or one of the young guys. Go Bucks!

Here's how I look at next year.

QB: Pryor returns and should be completely heathly. It remains to be seen how much he will be used in the offense, but I'm guessing we'll see a good mix of the 2006 Offense along with some Power formations. Either way, the coaches have a lot of trust in Pryor's arm now, so the QB position should be much improved. Upgrade (More Experience)

RB's: This position should be loaded with talent next year. Herron and Saine both had solid years, but neither proved to be a feature back. We'll defiently see quite a few guys get some quality playing time next year with Jaamal Berry healthy and Jordan Hall looked great when we saw him in action last year. Either Rod Smith or Carlos Hyde will be the power back that we lacked last year. Obviously, Saine and Herron will see the majority of the playing time, but after that who knows who will get serious playing time. Upgrade (More Experience)

FB: Boren played outstanding as a true freshmen, and no doubt he will get better as he gets older. Depth might be an issue here, but Jermil Martin could move back if needed and some think Hyde might play a little here, so we shall see. Upgrade (More Experience)

WR's/TE's: Posey and Sanz disappeared at times in the passing game, but both were consistently very good blockers. These two will likely be better next year with age, especially Posey who will make the jump from true Soph to junior. Posey had some trouble holding on to the ball, but if he works on that he will be a very reliable, true No 1. WR. Sanzo was very reliable and will provide great leadership as a senior next year, and is a great option out of the slot. Carter needs to get his grades up, but once that is taken care of, his potential is definetly huge. He's somewhat of a question mark next year, because he struggled with drops, and may be in Tressel's dog house.I think Schwartz could step up big next year, but after that who knows, with Washigton and Thomas's futures being unclear. Stoney has all kinds of talent, but will he be split out, or stay at TE, which OSU is notorious for under utilizing? Upgrade (More Experience)

O-Line: Besides Cordle, nearly the whole Two-deep returns, but Cordle will be missed. However, the potential for this group is huge. The unit was very good in run blocking, but struggled at times in pass pro. The latter should be improved, with the time the unit works together, and improves their chemistry. Upgrade (More Experience)

D-Line: If Heyward and Gibson return, this group could be outstanding. That is a big if, however, so I'll update this section on January 15, when we know for sure who is coming back. On the interior, Worthington and Denlinger will be big losses, but a healthy Larimore will be great. Also, John Simon was great in the time he saw this year, so DT shouldn't be too much of an issue. Goebel will provide depth at DT, and if Shariff and Hankins come to Columbus, this could be an excellent group. Upgrade Assuming Gibson and Heyward return (More Experience)

LB's: Rolle and Homan should both be GREAT next year, and there is plenty of depth behind them. Spitler was very good this year, but may have been the lesser of the 3 LB's. Sabino and Klein will fight it out for the SLB spot and there are plenty of other young guns who could contribute. Also, Moeller is a big question mark. Not becuase of his talent- he has plenty of that- but will he be healthy? Hopefully, becuase it would be sickening for his career to end with a sucker punch. Upgrade (More Experience)

DB's: Coleman was outstanding this year, and it was a travesty that he did not get consideration for the Thorpe Award. I can't remember who got the start for him when he was suspended, but they will have the inside track at replacing him. The Corners will be very good, assuming Chekwa returns. If he can work on his hips and actually turning his head around, he could be a high draft pick next year. Torrence was very solid, and is our most physical corner, he will get better with age. Hines will be great in run support out of the FS position and his coverage skills are pretty good too. Overall, you can't replace a Kurt Coleman, but this group sholud be solid and reliable next year. Downgrade (Coleman is a big loss)

In Summary, this team should be very good next year, but the schedule is pretty tough. If they step up in key road games against Iowa and Wisky, a title shot is very likely, IMO.

A return to the Rose Bowl, and a rematch with USC (likely).

Although I would like to see the Bucks matched up against Alabama in the NC game.

If there are two undefeated teams from conferences like the SEC/Big 12/PAC 10....and the Bucks are undefeated too.....I can really see us being dissed for past performance.

That's very possible. But never underestimate the short memory and ADD of most media talking heads not to mention casual fans.

I think next year there will be a readiness to see something other than sec vs bigXII in the championship game, if voting/polls can have any effect on it.

That wasn't the question.

For that matter; Ingram won because he put up impressive numbers on a team that is in contention for the NC. That's what the award is about. Will Ingram be a "more outstanding player" than the player that we are assuming TP will be? Not at all. But he'll put up good numbers if he stays healthy, and that's what matters.

As jwins has observed, Bama's #2 RB had impressive ypc numbers too. Ingram probably wasn't the best college football player this year. There might be a back somewhere that would have put up better numbers behind his line. We'll never know.

So the question of whether TP will be in NYC is easy. He'll put up good numbers on a team in contention for the title.

But I don't see his numbers being good enough to win it. I hope I'm wrong.
There were 10 Running backs with more yards per game than Ingram. Out of those 10 running backs, 5 had a better YPC, 6 had more TDs, 4 did it in less carries, 5 did it with less games,

We just played against one who had better stats than Ingram.
