Exactly Winslow and these kool drinkers on both recruiting sites act like nothing is wrong with that. 11 guys for 1 position is too many! Guess how many linebackers we have on scholarship?4

The excuse is that guys have been injured, are at risk for qualifying, etc. But like you said, it still doesn't change the numbers being taken away from other positions, such as LB. They've got a handful of tweeners, very few pure LBs.

Needs: I have no idea, really. Is Teric Jones a slot receiver? What about Tony Drake? Is Kelvin Grady a realistic option? Will Jeremy Gallon qualify? Does Je'Ron Stokes end up playing inside? If the answers are all "yes," then the need here is minimal. If they're all "no," the need here is considerable.

Commitments: LA WR Drew Dileo committed to Michigan over an array of schools that are really good at school a few weeks ago.

Realistic Future Options: Again, it's not a surprise that there aren't a whole lot of options on the board here. FL WR OJ Ross has an offer and has been very impressive this spring at a variety of combines and his high school's spring game; he's about the only guy on the radar here.

Level of PANIC: 3/5. Dileo seems like one of those guys you wait on. Just my e-pinion.

Definitely agree with that. His commitment has always puzzled me. I've got no problem with a guy like him filling out a class, but not in May, or was it April when he committed?

Eh, sometimes the coaches see something they know they like. We offered a similar player in Dane Sanzenbacher after a summer camp when his only other notable offer was Iowa. He's become an excellent slot receiver for us.

Yep, I'm a bit disappointed in all the tweeners myself. I've been waiting for a pure LB commit for a while now. I was pretty upset when that one kid ended up committing to Oklahoma, when he had decent UM ties. He seemed like a good player, and a position of great need. Oh, what's his name?

But we aren't neglecting other positions by taking 3-4 Dane's every year.

Off topic, I know, but though I wasn't initially a big Sanzo fan, I must admit that if we could take 4 actual Dane Sanzenbachers annually, we'd be doing very well indeed. The kid is outstanding.

Well, if he would actually try to recruit above a Big East level, maybe there wouldn't be so may questions. Tony Drake? Seriously. And who the hell is the kid they offered yesterday. I'm beginning to believe DickRod is afraid to try to get in on high rated/elite kids because his pathetic ego couldn't handle the potential rejection.

Ken Wilkins commits to Michigan today, another tweener DE/OLB that doesn't really excel at either position. Dick Rod sure loves his projects.

It has been said over and over, but Rodriguez really can't seem to wrap his head around the fact that he isn't at West Virginia anymore and doesn't have to go after tweeners that big time programs usually don't like to gamble on.

Going after tweeners is why programs like Wisconsin and Iowa are only good once every three or four years. Sometimes enough project recruits work out and the stars align for the team, but most of the time it doesn't and the team is mediocre. That is definitely the path I see Michigan taking if Rodriguez continues this style of recruiting.

According to the interview at mgoblog, Wilkins is a perfect fit for the "quick" position in Robinson's defense.

Wilkins, like a couple other guys in the class, seems underrated because he doesn't fit into a lot of defenses like he does in Michigan's 4-3 under, where his combination of size and athleticism will serve him well.
