A QB named Tom Brady loves the spread in New England and seemed to have alot of success with it I think. And New England did run MOSTLY spread in 06 and 7
Very true. When Tom Brady starts running some of RR's sets, let me know.

Whats this? Not every spread is the same?

of course every spread is not the same, that's why Rodriguez's spread offense is going to revolutionize the Big Ten and leave defensive coordinators baffled while the spread offenses that Purdue and Northwestern have been running for over a decade have failed to even make their teams above mediocre

all 'spread' offenses run by winning teams can be compared to Michigan, all 'spread' offenses run by program's with inferior talent looking for a gimmick to even the playing field are not similar at all

Oh... OK.. I got it now, I think.

I guess the good news is that the NFL loves system guys.. so that's bound to help RR and Michigan get high grade talent. Hell, I bet they hardly have to send out any offers at all... just the guys they "really" want...

yeah, the best players in the country will be lining up to play for such a revolutionary system that prepares them so well for the NFL, there are going to be some serious recruiting battles if the top programs want to keep their recruits from flocking to Ann Arbor

there you go negatively recruiting against Michigan. God.....those poor saps are the only ones who get negatively recruited against, and they NEVER do it.

Can it really be called a gimmick when probably 90% of college football runs some form of a spread at one time or another?

I'd wager that 100% of teams have run the fumblerooski, statue of liberty, or unbalanced line / TE pass at one point or another. I guess those are legitimate offenses and not gimmicks.

If any version of the spread ever showed anything positive..and pooped out a few NFL players: that is what RR runs.

Any spread that bogged down and led to embarrassing turnovers and horrific losses while producing no NFL talent: RR doesn't run that one.

Since OSU fans can't possibly know as much about the spread as a UM fan..I went to an expert for the above analysis.

Your welcome.

Were you guys not just talking about ANY spread before I commented and how it is hard to transition from sitting back to getting under center and thats why USC produces so many sweet qbs? You never said rich rods type did you, I think it was just any Spread transitioning into the NFL. I also think this qb Sam Bradford from O.U will be a pretty good Spread qb going to the nfl.

I posted the spread link because shaun king is often touted as proof of rr's passing spread and nfl transition. When he himself thinks the system severely hurts your chances, I find it pretty interesting.

But there's no need to continue the tom spread sets discussion wrt rr, given the lack of a connection.

I'm imagining this, and I'm laughing.
The funny part is he'd do it with tom, if he stayed.

Mother of God, are you serious? You do realize that "spread offense" casts an extremely wide net don't you?

Precisely.

The whole Shaun King thing is hilarious. They tout a career backup with one unspectacular season as a starter as proof of Dick's ability to put players in the league? The sheer lack of numbers over his career disputes that.

I'm actually interested in seeing if there are any comments from their fans if they watch the Spring Game online tomorrow. Should be good entertainment to see the Pryor/Forcier comparisons:biggrin:

I'm sure there will be highlight videos out. They may not be that long, but there will still be some (relax, its a joke)(if you can't relax, you need to grow up).

Anyway, I'd be very surprised to see Tate/Pryor comparisons. They're two completely different QBs. One is a more polished thrower that is working on his strength and running. The other is a hell of a runner, that is what, 240 lbs? and is working on his throwing. Both could be potentially great QBs for both squads and the Big10.

I think the main focus for most UM fans will be on the osu defense. How well can they replace all the talent that left last year? Who will step up to fill their role? How will the offense look without the Beanie/Pryor duo, and while replacing a few WRs?
