2009 TSUN News (football only discussion)

Ray is 5'8" 175. Smart, tough, physical... Just some concerns about his size and speed at the next level.

Good enough for offers from Bowling Green, Kent State, and Michigan. :p
he accepted the latter on Wednesday, per the bank.

Does anyone know how good this Vinopal kid from Mooney is?

Reminds of another kid from Mooney who ended up at Nebraska the year Pelini landed the job. Name escapes me, he filled in for Danny McCarthy in the state playoffs. Like jwins said, good athlete and smart player. Unfortunately for scUM, NF hit the nail on the head; he could never play for us.

His thread here wasn't updated with that information. :shake:

From that link:

UPSHOT FOR THE REST OF THE CLASS
You can write off the renewed Oh S LaTwan Anderson interest: with Vinopal's addition, Michigan has six defensive backs in this class and is primed to add a seventh in FL CB Tony Grimes. More likely, Marvin Robinson will find himself at linebacker before long.

More interesting is the scholarship situation: Vinopal is the 23rd commitment and three guys are expected to commit sooner or later, pushing Michigan over 25 and necessitating someone coming in on a grayshirt if there is no attrition. Vinopal may be that grayshirt candidate, come to think of it. It's clear that Michigan will sign 28 this year with three guys aware that they are candidates to grayshirt if everyone gets in. Vinopal and the two guys currently unqualified are the most likely.

This is what makes Vinopal so interesting. RR's first class added 11 kids after this date (granted, the circumstances were different) and last year he got 7 commits from 11 December and later.

So why in the first week of December take what seems to be a stretch at a position that is already heavily committed when it constrains your ability to go after other kids down the stretch?

Fascinating.

It's all under control.
