There are a few somber realists in the mix
man has energy really been a harsh realist lately:
Scout.com: The Problem Isn't Rod, It's The Team!
Look many issues aren't rich's fault but some clearly are so I don't care who you are the coach is not getting a free pass for this. And fyi if the coach starts blaming anything prior to his hire date he will lose me very quickly on this issue. It's called man up and take responsibility.

Rich has brought some of this on his own, period, some he has not period.

Imho the areas Rich clearly missed out on, and it is plain as day.

#1 QB, he didn't take a juco transfer, didn't accept any transfers at qb knowing he had none on roster. This is on rich since he was not willing to change his offense it is on rich. And since he had 2 recruiting classes he could have sought out 1 player it is on him imho, ie nichol his first yr transferred and they didn't give him more then a look, paulus last yr could be playing this yr at michigan. So my point is, qb play this yr is all on Rich, he is the one that trusted it to 2 tr fr and a walk on sr who can't play at this level.

#2 Defense, it didn't take a rocket scientist to see the depth on defense was taking a major hit scholarship wise and they didn't get enough defensive players in. 1st class I know he needed some players that fit his scheme but come on seriously, schollies were dwindinling, 1st full/real class 2009, even with the schollies out and 2 kids that decommited would have only left 30 on roster, so lets get real, he was way short and knew it and didn't fill out the final 4 spots where he needed them on defense!

#3 Defensive Coordinator/Assistants. Nobody forced him to fire every last defensive assistant at all. Nobody forced him to get rid of every coach familiar with the big ten, familiar with getting the job done in the big ten on defense, knowing inns and outs of the conference. Nobody forced him to hire a totally new staff and turn around and fire his new dc after 1 season because he was listening to the wrong people. And created even further havoc on defensive recruiting and stability changing the scheme yet again 3rd time in 3 yrs, 4th in 5yrs.

And anyone who wants to let rich off the hook for those things be my guest. I am a supporter of michigan football and rich rodriguez, but he clearly is not above criticisim, esp when the decisions made were so far out in left field as to why would make them one must wonder if he will ever dig his way out of these that have set him so far back.

Their latest commit was snagged away from LA Tech, Minnesota, Northern Illinois, Louisiana Monroe, and Utah. Nice snag DRod.

That DickRod, always getting those top notch blue-chippers.

Hey, I feel great for the kid. Seriously. If any other coach were hired other than DickRod, this kid, most likely, would never have received a sniff from scUM. At least the kid might get a chance at a good education if he steers clear of Gen Studies.

This recruiting class is a little disappointing. Gardner and M.Robinson seem to be the only standouts. I think Pace, White, Talbott, and Miller can become good players. I'm not sure about the other guys.

Hmmm, so Kurt Coleman's overzealous hit results in a game suspension, but Ortmann jabbing a player in the gonads gets a pass. Comical.

Kevin Leach is still starting at MLB. Obi Ezeh is still in the mix, and hasn't let his decreased playing time affect his desire to prepare for games.
This is funny on so many levels.
