Would make sense. The kid just seemed like a poor fit for DickRod's system and he's likely gonna be stuck behind one of DR's recruits. At least if he transfers, he'd still get a year in a system more suitable to his talents.

But yeah, a 180-190 Frosh QB expected to endure the rigors of a D-1 schedule in that offense backed up by either another very green frosh or *gulp* Nick Sheridan again...yeesh.

I don't think starting one year would help Threet much. I'd be shocked if he ever made it to the NFL. He should use his athletic scholarship to get a degree like most student athletes do and a Michigan degree is certainly better than a Delaware or an App. State degree.

That may be true, but some kids love the game and just want to play...

What hurts the most is the reps they will have wasted. Cone nor Sheridan got as many reps... so I guess they are putting all of their eggs in Tates basket. How long before Sheridan and/or Cone start to consider transfer...if they don't they will be just taking up scholarships. I guess ROBINSON WILL just have to handle being a back-up...Tate or Robinson will transfer if they do not start. Robinson/Tate might regret that committment sooner rather than later.

Let me see if I have this straight.
  • The offense will only be better than last years horse abortion based on improvement in QB play.
  • The 180lb true freshman QB coming in to hopefully provide that upgrade wasn't the first choice of the staff? He is again as a matter of fact a true freshman.
  • There is zero for a backup plan for said true freshman. No hyperbole, no exaggeration, if Forcier gets hurt (or is in any way ineffective) you are now old mother hubbard and there isn't one swinging dick that can help you in the cupboard.
  • The defense, which was about the only "strong" point of last years 3-9 campaign will be worse, not better.
There is a time for a well thought out "all in" when you have the odds at least somewhat in your favor and then there is just plain old dumb ass desperation because you have no clue what the fuck you are doing.

In Depth: Top College Sports Towns - Forbes.com
1. Ann Arbor, Mich.
University of Michigan

At a time when most quality of life news out of Michigan is focused on Detroit's woes, there are a lot of things to like about Ann Arbor--even if the hometown Wolverines missed a bowl this season. A four-bedroom home runs just $303,750, while median salaries are $51,232, making this the 14th most affordable market on our list. Schools ranked eighth overall, and Ann Arbor has the fourth lowest crime rate of any college on our list.
So basically it's our choice for best sports town based on everything not related to sports.

Raper is a track star playing football, not a football player who happens to run track...

A lot of my friends that play for other schools pretty much say the same thing about him, and I faced him in a 7 on 7 tourney this past summer.
