I just read where over weight men can gain an inch by losing 30 pounds.

Kelvin Grady expected to join U-M's football team | Freep.com | Detroit Free Press
Kelvin Grady, who played the past two years as a backup point guard on the Michigan basketball team, is expected to join the football team.By staying at U-M, Grady will be able to play immediately instead of sitting out a year as a transfer under NCAA rules. He will have three years of eligibility.
Grady was an all-state running back at East Grand Rapids his senior year, amassing more than 2,000 yards.
Both U-M football coach Rich Rodriguez and Grady were unavailable for comment. Grady is expected to receive a football scholarship. U-M has extra scholarships available, including two stemming from the transfers of Steven Threet and Toney Clemons.
Grady?s older brother Kevin already plays on the football team as a running back. At 5-feet-9 and 226 pounds, Kevin is bigger than Kelvin (5-10, 170 pounds).
Kelvin will probably play as a slot receiver. Being leaner and quicker than his brother, Kelvin could be an ideal fit in Rodriguez?s spread offense.

Avon Lake OL Christian Pace (no relation to Orlando) commits to scUM.

http://www.buckeyeplanet.com/forum/...43-10-oh-ol-christian-pace-3.html#post1476066

Don't know much about him, but had a decent offer list. Smallish, so may be a bit of a project.

As with most, if not all, OL prospects, taking a redshirt year to learn technique is almost required. This is almost like a guy like Patrick Omameh, who came in at 230ish lbs, and as of spring ball, was at 276 lbs, and looking at getting significant playing time this year. Not saying Pace will be great, but, he's got a pretty decent offer list, and I'd expect him to move up recruiting rankings when the new lists come out. He just recently moved into the ESPN 150 watch list.

Never was because I keep this simple fact in mind: No matter the rankings, our recruits will be coached and developed by Jim Patrick Tressel for the next 4 years. Their recruits will not. Advantage OSU....big time.

That's not completely true. The Michigan recruits will get a very long and painful lesson by Jim Tressel once a year in late November.

Seriously, all joking aside, how many scholarships is that now for slot receivers?
11 by my count: Robinson, Odoms, Feagin, Roundtree, Stokes, Gallon, Jones, Dileo, Drake, Williamson, Grady.

That doesn't include the RBs that could play slot like Shaw, Toussaint, Smith. Dior Mathis, 2010 offered CB from Cass Tech, could be a slot as well. Stokes could play outside WR as well, most of the others lack the size.

Astounding.

So about 15% of his availible scholarships are tied up in 5'10" 170lb guys who can really only do one thing.

The man is definitly committed to his scheme. I think Woodson's line about hoping it works pretty much sums it up from their pov.

Robinson, Odoms, Gallon, Jones, Dileo, Drake, Smith & Mathis would all love to be that size.

Mathis can play corner and Dileo is supposed to have that ability, but they are generally one position guys.

...and again, in the BE, against less physical defenses (some teams barely fielded a defense at all), he could get away with that. I'm not convinced it'll work in a much more physical conference.

I truly believe DickRod is just gonna produce a slew of 8-4 and 9-3 type seasons for them when he gets the kids for his system in place, with an occasional 10 or 11 win season a possibility. Basically, LLoyd Carr with a different scheme. Question is, how long will they put up with that this time?
