Can someone confirm or deny if Beanie was a Michigan fan before he was an OSU commit? I could've sworn he was..

I think there have been multiple players like that. Securing borders = important. If only for the players like Beanie. Or, in Michigan's case, Gholston comes to mind.
That is my memory as well, that Beanie grew up a Michigan fan.

I guess Jwin beat me to it.

We'd still have a puppy that would bite you in Buckeye stadium, a hot tub or any aisle of a Big Bear.

Which makes me wonder if win/loss record in The Game somehow correlates with the proportion of in-state/rival state kids on the starting rosters. Maybe part of "getting" the rivalry has to do with recruiting kids that were born with that passion in their bellies. If you go all over the place recruiting stars, you'll do well overall, but those OOS kids have a higher chance of not being able to overcome the other side's intensity and fire when it comes to the last game of each season.

I know its not real scientific but I have a 2-10-1 record from a certain outsider coach that I'll put up as proof of why I believe in this for players and coaches.

Woody vs scUM: 16-11-1
Earl vs scUM: 5-4
Coop: 2-10-1
JT: 7-1 and counting

You either grow up indoctrinated in our culture and understand what The Game really means or you do not. I think players can be brought along to a certain degree but coaches set the tone.

As soon as RR started trying to downplay The Game as just another rivalry game I knew we had our man.

...

Pretty much the same thing from the other side:

Carr vs tOSU: 6-7-0
Meoller vs tOSU: 3-1-1
Bo vs tOSU: 11-9-1
Elliot vs tOSU: 3-7-0

One thing's for sure, though. Coop was indeed the gift that kept on giving (for TSUN).

Looks like a random blog. He probably just heard a rumor and took it as fact.
UM fans are holding out hope that PSU will fill up* first, just like they had hoped with a handful of recruiting battles vs UNC.

* - PSU just landed #26, Michael Wallace, a 1 or 2 star CB from Jelani Jenkins' high school, who held offers from Stanford & Army. PSU fans are hoping it will help sway Jenkins their way, who will decide soon.

Prestige Rankings

8. Michigan Wolverines
Total points: 1,332
Positives: Michigan owns two national titles. The second of those championship teams, the 1997 squad, included a Heisman winner, Charles Woodson. Woodson is one of three Heisman winners from Michigan, joining RB Tom Harmon in 1940 and Desmond Howard in 1991. The Wolverines were a top-5 program in the 1980s and '90s and were ninth in the '70s. Over the past 40 years, Michigan has had just one losing season, this past season. Michigan football also has never been on probation.
Negatives: The Wolverines have only one major bowl win in the BCS era and only two since 1992. Can you believe Michigan hasn't spent a week at No. 1 since that title season in 1997? Or that it has only one bowl win in the past six seasons? The 1950s and '60s weren't kind to Michigan, either; the Wolverines finished 21st, easily their worst ranking of any era.
Through the decades: Through 1958: 10th | 1968: 15th | 1978: 7th | 1988: 8th | 1998: 8th
Did you know? Before this past season, the Wolverines had the longest active streak of bowl appearances with 33 (1975-2007).

They must have OSU in the top 5, fwiw...

How do you not even mention the loss to Appy state when talking about prestige rankings?

Seriously, the only top 5 school in CFB history to lose to a 1-AA school, at home no less, and it's not even mentioned? Then follow it up with a loss to a MAC school, at home again, the next year? Yeah, that Harmon sure was a hell of a player...nothing to see here. :shake:

If you are going to give credit for the 20 NC's they claim before Japan surrendered then you gotta deduct something for their current sorry ass status.

They are pissed. (link)

Maybe since they have all of 2 NCs since 1936 (the starting year of the evaluation).

 Fucking idiots. They keep saying that "recent troubles" are the reason they aren't ranked higher. ESPN fucking breaks down the criteria very clearly.

Though the one poster makes an excellent point with...

Btw, I looked at USC's bowl history, they have played in a total of 49 bowl games, 34 of which were played in Los Angeles...must be nice to play that many home games for your bowl game.

34 of 49 bowl games at home? That's fucking absurd.

Maybe Michigan can make it to the Motor City Bowl next year....
