Mack gets another

By Phil Kornblut
Calhoun County OL Eric Mack (6-4 310) landed his 17th offer Wednesday when a Michigan recruiter visited his school. The Wolverines are the first from the Big Ten to offer Mack who also has offers from USC, Clemson, Wake Forest, North Carolina, Alabama, Kentucky, LSU, Florida, Tennessee, Florida State, West Virginia, NC State, Auburn, Oklahoma, Georgia Tech and Miami. Tennessee recruiter David Reaves also visited Mack's school today and plans to continue to recruit him despite the flare up between the Vols and Calhoun County over alleged comments made in March by Tennessee head coach Lane Kiffin.

I'm guessing who he thinks the 3 best players in the Big Ten are? If so, he's got one of them right...the rest...:roll1:
It's the picture on the front page of the ESPN college football page, probably just shocked to be put in the same photo as two all conference caliber players.

Looks like Rod has changed his ways a bit. Instead of taking commits, then dropping them later when a better prospect comes along (cough*DWAYNEPEACE*cough), he's now telling kids who want to accept his offer on the spot to hold on awhile. :sneaky:

Michigan, Rodriguez recruiting habits are puzzling - Realfootball365.com

He may want to go coach somewhere else, and he needs to give himself some leeway to recruit them for the new team.

It's not looking good at the moment. He's probably going to have another poor season. Depends on how much time they want to give him......and if that time is even going to be enough.

It's entirely possible that he caught lightning in a bottle at WVU when the 3 best teams left his conference, and Pat White + Steve Slaton fell into his lap.

Ex-quarterback Threet gives starting nod to Sheridan in spread offense
BY MARK SNYDER • FREE PRESS SPORTS WRITER • MAY 12, 2009

Steven Threet started nine games at quarterback for Michigan in 2008. He has since transferred to Arizona State, but offered his thoughts on this year's quarterback race and the U-M offense.

The competition is between veteran Nick Sheridan, freshman Tate Forcier, who participated in spring practice, and freshman Denard Robinson, who will arrive next month. If Jason Forcier, Tate's brother, becomes eligible as a graduate student, he also could enter the mix.
When Threet was working with Sheridan and Forcier in January, he saw the possibilities with Sheridan making significant strides and Forcier "seemed to pick it up well."

Threet played his true freshman season under Lloyd Carr's pro-style offense only practicing and not in games. He said Rich Rodriguez's spread system is more conducive to the younger players meshing quickly.

"It's a system that can be tailored to a guy that wants to learn it quick because you're not going to find the verbiage as in a pro-style system," Threet said. "Compared to the previous system we ran, this is easier on younger quarterbacks."
"I feel like Tate has a good opportunity coming in early with the extra reps in the spring and that should be beneficial," he said. "But Nick does a good job of executing the offense the way they want it to be run. People may point out the physical things Tate or Denard may have at a physical advantage, but a lot of time at quarterback in this system comes down to decision-making."
