TSUN 12. Purdue 28
Total: TSUN 12, Opponents 75

He only can blame the players for failed execution for so long because each successive on-field embarrassment brings more intensive scrutiny on the schematics. Michigan has become a terrible second-half team and that speaks to a lack of game-time adjustments or possible fatigue from players pushed too far in pregame preparation. Counting on the offense to overwhelm the opposition isn?t exactly a recipe of national championship contention, particularly if it can?t get through a Big Ten schedule in which titles are still determined among those best equipped to smack the guy lining up across from them in the mouth.

Nothing to see here, folks. This totally can't be blamed on Barwis or RR. Carr left the cupboard bare. UM's losses will forever be his fault, not RR's or any of RR's staff.

This is what I don't understand about RR's recruiting to date. I realize we may still add a couple cb's but I just can't excuse all the schollys that went to WR's and slots this year.
MM113 said:That's 7 CBs if you count Woolfolk and Turner BOTH as CBs, which IMO, one is a FS.
I'm not sickened by it if it was 7 slots rangings from seniors to freshman. Because in RRod's offense there is usually more 2 outside WR, 2 slot formations, but because we had no slots and we had TEs, he's incorperated TEs more (as he should IMO).
My issue is that they're all freshman and sophomores for the most part. Do I think we'd be just fine with 5 slots ranging from seniors to freshman...yes. Those 2 extra scholarships should be defensive players. 7 CBs is fine, if they're true CBs, but I think Woolfolk, Turner and Floyd would each be better suited as safeties. Put Floyd at SS, Turner and Woolfolk at FS, and you've got a nice back line. Except now you have NO CBs.
This is why I keep saying, we need 3 MORE CBs in this class. It'll give us more flexibility at safety. I'm not suggest we'll start a true freshman or move everyone to safety, but now you have the depth to take say a Floyd and move him to SS. And Turner OR Woolfolk and move him to FS while the other one starts opposite Warren.
And Kovacs isn't terrible, he's actually really good in the box, but playing FS, he's just in no mans land. He needs to be a SS. Williams needs to be moved to Stevie Brown's position.
You don't move everyone "down" to increase speed, but it's clear as day that these positions would be the best fit for each of these players.
ShoeLB50 said:Defense is horrible, plain and simple. I blame the 3-3-5 defense: Its a horrible scheme that cant stop the run (or evidentally the pass this year) and Rich Rod handicaps us by being to stubborn to change. Unfortunatly for us I dont think its going to change so im going to go ahead and take a crack at the best roster to make it work.

I'm guessing Tom Beaver doesn't like Tate's chances in those circumstances either.

GTFO!Martin optimistic about future
Michigan Athletic Director Bill Martin on Wednesday asked for patience from his fans and reiterated his full support for coach Rich Rodriguez.
"Of course we're all concerned, but the message is simple: to have patience," Martin said. "Those who stay will be champions. That's what Bo [Schembechler] always said. I am all in for Rich Rodriguez. He will get the job done for us. He has assembled an excellent staff. He has got my full support."
