Re: Rodriguez is not going anywhere!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Has anyone here realized that all these losses this year are to teams who are STACKED WITH 5TH YEAR seniors and everyone has been saying "this is their year" which means next year those teams beating us will be "reloading" and will be like us this year?

I.e. Iowa, PSU, MSU, OSU...all these teams are LOADED with 5th year seniors and at least sophmores if not Juniors QBs..THAT IS A HUGE ADVANTAGE OVER OUR YOUNG TEAM..

Wait till next year...NO ONE IN THE big Ten will be able to hang with our offense.THE OPPOSING COAHCES KNOW THIS AND THAT IS WHY THEY ALL HAVE BEEN CELEBRATING LIKE THEY WON THE SUPERBOWL BECAUSE they know this is their ONLY SHOT to beat us going forward was THIS YEAR...

Anyone ever think about this for a second? and realize just HOW GOOD our team has been this year playing against this DISADVANTAGE?

he was making the point that the 1969 Michigan team wasn't an absolute train wreck like the 2009 version of the team is... it's not good to underestimate Michigan, but acting like the situation this year is anywhere close to the situation in '69 is not accurate

Nor is the OSU team this year remotely close to the team from 1969.

I can't see any way that UM beats us this year.

I couldn't see Purdue doing it.

I couldn't see MSU doing it in 1998.

Miami couldn't see it January of 2003.

Notre Dame couldn't see Carnegie Tech in 1926.

For anybody who believes it simply can not happen I hope you are enjoying your first season following college football.

For the record, delusional Michigan fans, Ohio State has eight fifth-year seniors - one starter on offense (Jim Cordle), one starter on defense (Austin Spitler), four role players on defense who see some quality minutes (Andre Amos, Anderson Russell, Todd Denlinger, Lawrence Wilson), the kicker (Aaron Pettrey), and the punter (Jon Thoma). Not exactly LOADED with fifth-year seniors, are we? And for what it's worth, the young guys who will be replacing all of those fifth-year seniors next year are probably more talented. So, dream on....

I don't know if anybody is saying it simply cannot happen...

The point is, if it happens this year it would be a bigger upset than the '69 game.

The '69 Michigan team was a good team with some serious momentum going into The Game and was coached by a man who knew Woody Hayes like a book.

The '09 Michigan team will be going into the game (probably) on a four game losing streak (six if you don't count I-AA teams) and they are coached by a joke who has a history of losing rivalry games.

I am certainly not saying it can't happen, but if it does it would be an even bigger upset than the '69 game... by a lot.

I would argue that point.

That OSU team was the team of the century. They were unbeatable. Our closest game was 27 points going in to Ann Arbor. That was an enormous upset.

I agree, it was a huge upset, but the #12 team in the country that is intimately familiar with Ohio State and on a roll, at home, beating an overconfident #1 Ohio State team that had not faced adversity the entire season is not a bigger upset than if Ohio State went down this year to an absolutely shitty, physically outmatched team on a six game losing streak with a horrendous defense, a freshman starting at quarterback, and a terrible coach

I don't think it's a major upset to imagine Pryor playing poorly and giving away TOs that lead to points, maybe even instantly. That's why it's not as big of an upset imo.

There are two ways OSU will look at this game. 1) They will think that scum is the worst team in the Big 10 and all they need to do is show up to win. 2) They will want to crush scum so bad in the first half that they don't even come out after halftime. With JT giving the motivation I'd put my money on #2. OSU's D is going to be licking their chops to get a shot at Tater.

Hard to imagine that OSU's defense would be eager to hit someone like this:

...and add the
"MAGIC"
which very few athletes have
(not to be confused with dumb luck)

you've got a

Super-Star!

good point, but didn't Rex throw a ton of interceptions (four I think) in the '69 game in only his second year as a starter?

according to wikipedia Ohio State turned the ball over 7 times in the '69 game, including six interceptions, and Rex Kern got pulled as the starter in the second half, so I think in terms of a young quarterback having a bad game throwing making the difference, it is about equal

edit: but anyways, fuck talking about this more, fuck Michigan and their shitty ass fucking football team
