Good post. What do you think about these bolded players leaving early? Heyward especially.

Someone posted something earlier that they were already discussing a return for the ring. i bet having JL, MF and MJ return last year helps.

Over the next few games, if we get out to a big lead I'd like to see a little more of Simon, Thomas, and Goebel...and get Keith Wells out there, too. With a starting four of Gibson, Larimore, Heyward, and Williams next year we'll need a complete second four that has quality experience.

I'm officially convinced that there isn't an O-Line in America that can contain our front four. The depth chart is impressive and means we can rotate in guys like Worthington, Wilson, Goebel, Simon, etc. and have everyone going full-go on every snap from scrimmage. Spitler, Homan, and Rolle have really benefitted from this, too. Man, I hope Cam and Thad both come back in 2010. If so, it will be a defense that rivals the best ever to come through the Horseshoe.

passrush

All I can say is that from C Deck, the passrush against Wisky looked outstanding. It seemed like virtually every play we were getting pressure, if not sacks (6 sacks against "the best O line in the big ten" sarcasm)

I will say I was a little dissapointed that Wisky was able to keep driving, though I know some of that had to do with the D being on the field so much.

Maybe we were just toying with them all along, allowing them first downs so that we could rip their hearts out after long drives.

One of the most amazing defensive performances I've ever seen. I don't think there was a single explosive play by wisky's offense. By making them earn every yard, an opportunistic defense creates more opportunities for turnovers, sacks, etc.

Mark my words, before the end of the year, this Defense will be in the discussion as one of the best to ever play in the Shoe.

Keep in mind that there could be a new labor contract between the NFL and NFLPA in 2011 that establishes a "rookie pay scale". That possibility could "force" a lot of underclassmen (who would otherwise stay in school) to declare for the 2010 NFL draft. :(

On Kurt Coleman's 89-yard pick-6, the key blocks that let him turn the corner near midfield were thrown by Thad Gibson, John Simon, and Cameron Heyward.

Great to get that effort from D-linemen. They all showed good athleticism and solid football instincts.

They are having solid years, but "fortunately" they haven't blown up to the point of media hype, ala Vern Gholston...I also think their seeing Jenkins and Laurinaitis coming back for their senior season and enjoying it as much as they did helps. I would not be surprised if Tressel has Jenkins and Laurinaitis have a little chat with Gibson and Heyward after the season...

I hope those MJ, and JL have that talk! Cam may not be getting all the hype but he is almost unblockable right now.

If the pub gets enough, Tress will have those 'selected few' reviewed by the Pros to see where they would be drafted, and then take it from there. I agree with Mili, that there hasn't been enough pub to blow their egos out of proportion - yet, and make them believe they are going to be swimming in dough next year. However, good DL's are scarce. Most of the ends I see end up at 'backer (a la Gholstin), and while that's not a stretch for Gibson, might be for Heyward.

Here's hoping that they believe another year will 'gel' their first round picks, especially if there is a national championship attached. (we can always hope). Next year could be the year (and the year after we lose many, many seniors).

PS, I think that USC's front wall held ours in check for most of the game, and especially when they needed their drive, and Wiscy's front wall did pretty well in the second half (up till they had to pass to get back into it). Wonder how they'll fare against Florida???????

PSS, we'd better worry about our OL wall against Florida, OKlahoma, LSU, etc (Penn St, Iowa and yes, folks, Michigan first). That will tell the tale. Cannot expect the D to carry us forever, only until the O catches up.

:gobucks3::gobucks4::banger: and here's to Michigan :groove3:

Pretty sure he has all or at least most draft eligible players submit paperwork, even if they're not projected to go high or be drafted at all.
