Billings to miss first four games

AUBURN, Ala. (AP) -- Auburn receiver Montez Billings will miss the first four games because of an academic issue.

Auburn associate athletic director Rich McGlynn said Thursday that university officials worked to get Billings on the field as quickly as possible. He said they don't necessarily agree with the NCAA's ruling.

Auburn has not elaborated on the issue for Billings, who has already graduated. He was sidelined for spring practice.

Billings is the team's top returning receiver after catching 24 passes for 277 yards last season.
