2009 Polls - Regular and Pre-Season

Guys, remember to look at the points...anyone have a breakdown for how the points are figured?.

Take the number of voters in either poll (60 AP, 59 Coaches - count the first place votes).
Each of the 60 ballots is scored in the following way:

25 points for #1
24 points for #2
...
...
1 point for #25.

Then, the total points for each team are added together for each team.

So, if you divide the AP poll points by 60, you can quickly figure out the average place on the ballots for a team.

If you divide the points difference between two teams by the total votes, for example 30 difference between two teams on the AP poll by 60 total votes, then you know the average difference between the teams on the ballots. This week, Ohio State is about one-quarter to one-half a vote on the average ballot behind Oklahoma.

Here's to South Florida rolling Cincy. They don't cover the spread against a pitiful Miami team and weren't impressive against Fresno State... but they're a #8 team.... right.

The media just chooses an up and coming team and pimps the Shit out of them.

Cinci is that team.

I still find it hilarious that journalists complain about coaches voting when they can't possibly have time to do it right. The journalists do have the time - in fact it's their job - and often they fuck it up worse than the coaches (or their athletic department interns).

2009 NCAA College Football Polls and Rankings for Week 6 - ESPN

Cinci jumps us to move to 8th.

tOSU stays at 9.

Bullshit. What did Cinci prove against Miami of Ohio??

:slappy:

A garbage time TD for 3-2 Indiana cuts OSU's lead to 19.
2 fourth quarter TD's give UC a 23 point victory over 0-5 Miami.

Clearly....Cincy deserves the bump. I almost never complain about polls and rankings, but that's an absolute fucking joke.

What Cincy proved against Miami Ohio for more than three quarters is that it is very beatable. Sagarin has their schedule strength at #109. South Florida and Pittsburgh are likely to show us another side of Cincy.

Why is Ohio State ranked lower? The rankings are a statement about the weakness of the Big Ten and a desire to not see Ohio State in the NC game. Sagarin has the Big Ten at #6, Marsee at #5.

Sagarin has Ohio State #8, Cincy #11. In his Predictor, Ohio State is #4, Cincy #13. Ohio State would be a five point favorite on a neutral field. USC is back to #1 in both ratings. In his ELO rating, used in the BCS, Ohio State is #15 and Cincy #5.

Just keep winning...
