2009-2010 Men's Basketball (Big Ten Regular Season and Tournament Champions)

polls

Love seeing us in the Top ten, although I don't understand how we are ahead of West Virginia.

The purdue loss last week may be a blessing. Just need to win our next eight games!!!

(is my count right?? two more reg. season, bye in the BT tournament, two tournament wins, four NCAA wins??)

What a nice season the team and Coach Matta have put together, and what a great program we have now.

"You can rest easy, Coach Taylor, there's a new man in town!"

Go Bucks! Let's get Peters, Kecman and Hays some pt this week!!!

Guess it depends on your goal. :p

3 more regular season games; with a bye, 3 B10 tourney wins are need for a championship; 6 NCAA tournament wins are needed for a national championship. 12 in a row would work for me.

thanks, Fungo. Yeah... I didn't really do any research before writing that last post.

12 more, 33 and 7. I'll make a note of that! Wouldn't it be sweet!

Usually the lack of a dominant big man pops into my mind as a reason we might not be able to go far into the tournament, but if Lauderdale starts playing with a last-chance attitude, there might be no stopping us. I thought he was pretty tough on Sunday.

But I'm going to be worried about the officiating in the NCAAs. As bad as Ed Hightower can be, you never know what kind of crew you're going to get in the NCAAs and what kind of ticky tack they're gonna call...

Anyway, it's been nice.

Go bucks!

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

Coming up: Penn State and Michigan
Where: State College, Pa., and Value City Arena
When: 6:30 p.m. Wednesday and noon Saturday
TV: Big Ten Network and ESPN
Radio: WBNS-FM/AM (97.1/1460)
The week that was
A midweek loss to Purdue, in which Ohio State rallied from a 15-point, second-half deficit to have a shot at forcing overtime, didn't deflate the Buckeyes. They went to Michigan State and did to the Spartans what the Boilermakers had done to them, building a double-digit lead by halftime and surviving a run at the end. It was Ohio State's fifth Big Ten road win and second against a ranked opponent (it also won at Purdue on Jan.12), and its 10th win in its past 11 Big Ten games.
The week ahead

Ohio State avoids foul play

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

When Draymond Green scored the first two baskets of the second half Sunday to start Michigan State's comeback from a 13-point deficit, Ohio State coach Thad Matta yelled at center Dallas Lauderdale to play harder.

"I've got three fouls," Lauderdale said.

"I don't care that you've got three fouls," Matta responded. "You've got to play harder."

Kyle Madsen replaced Lauderdale a minute later. But when Madsen picked up his fourth and fifth fouls and exited with 11:18 left, it was on Lauderdale to finish the game.

He did, without another foul, and his interior presence helped the No.9-ranked Buckeyes finish off a victory that kept them in contention for the Big Ten championship with three games remaining. The first of those is tonight at Penn State.

"I think when you've got guys that have a pretty good basketball IQ, (they) sort of pick up on how the game's being called," Matta said yesterday. "I think these guys have done a pretty good job of keeping out of foul trouble."

Only 11 teams in NCAA Division I average fewer fouls per game than Ohio State's 15.4.

What makes the statistic more remarkable is that only two of those 11 have held opponents to lower field-goal percentages than the Buckeyes. Ohio State's opponents are making 40.9 percent of their attempts and averaging 60.4 points per game.

Yo coach Thad!!

re: last regular season game tomorrow... Please note the OSU Women's team played ELEVEN last night. No, not eleven for both teams, eleven players JUST FOR OHIO STATE!!!!

Yes, they had a crushing lead against NW when they did it, but please make it a goal with the team to get everyone in tomorrow.

I know, winning is everything.... but I'm sure you can make it happen!!

Go bucks, Crush the Scummers club basketball team!!

Oh yeah, one more request, please don't start the game with 6 or 7 minutes of launching jump shots.

Would like to see Lauderdale have a career night. Dude!!!

Peace out!:)
