2009-2010 Lady Buckeyes Basketball (6 straight Big Ten Titles)

ESPN announcers echoed the sentiments of local radio announcers saying a major focus of OSU coaches need to be getting Prahalis' emotional outbursts under control. She finished w/14 pts, but 10 TO's. Miss St scored 30+ pts from OSU turnovers, Alexis Rack scored at will blowing by Hill all game, Mokango played outstanding inside, defense from OSU was poor most of the game. Outside shooting kept the Buckeyes in the game the first half, but perimeter shooters rarely touched the ball the entire second half. Shultze connected on 4 3's, Johnson & Prahalis each had 3 3's. Again, the question is why stop doing what was about the only thing working? Frustration showed early from lack of fouls being called, but that's something that can/should be worked on during off-season. Just can't let emotions take you out of any game. All 5 starters ended in double figures. I agree with previous poster, the game goes as Lavender goes, and tonight wasn't enough.

Congratulations on another successful Big 10 season, next year hopefully this returning group can take it to another level.

Cooper couldn't beat UM, Foster cannot take the ladies deep into the tournament. Any one think he could be on the hot seat this year or next or is everyone happy with Big 10 Championships?

Yes. Before the tournament even started, I thought it was a prerequisite that this team made it to the SS for Foster's job to be 100% safe. It seems like year after year that OSU women win a weak conference by coming back from 20+ points in the conf. championship only to then get wrecked early in the tourney.

I was wondering to myself (I'm sure many around Columbus are as well)...are Big 10 Championships enough?

Certainly they are a great accomplishment, but for a casual observer, these early exits are bad.

Year Loss
2010-Round of 32, #2 seed
2009-Sweet 16, #3 seed (lost to #2 Stanford)
2008-1st round, #6 seed
2007-1st round, #4 seed
2006-Round of 32, #1 seed
2005-Sweet 16, #2 seed (lost to #3 Rutgers)

I mean, what's up with Foster? Or is it "wait til next year"?

No surprise the critics following a loss always blame the coach. I, on the other hand, would like to see some accountibility go to the girls. Of course I question why adjustments weren't made since man defense obviously wasn't working, especially with the Hill/Rack matchup. ESPN is loving showing replays of all the shots Rack made with no defensive pressure at all. But to stop doing what worked in the first half is still my biggest question. Perimeter shooters rarely touched the ball, teamwork was nowhere to be found, definitely needs to be addressed. So much talent, let's hope it gets put to better use next season. UConn is the ultimate example of teamwork; they have 2 superstars, but play the most spectacular team basketball I've ever watched.

Let's go ladies, use the off-season to work on flaws to prepare for another record-breaking season.
