I wonder if Campbell's decommit from Michigan means that USC has gotten a strong feeling or even a direct comment from Adams that he is OSU bound......or ASU bound. Therefore Petey is going to the next best DT he can get.

Let's hope this means Adams is heading to Columbus for CFB.

I think that if Pete Carroll OR Jim Tressel thought they had a chance at signing both of these young DT's they would do it. In fact, pay some attention to this current situation, as my first sentence could actually very well play out. Who knows.

Re: Campbell decommits.

******** BILLY CAMPBELL. He is either too scared to run with the Barwis clan or he is too stupid to know what a degree from Michigan will offer him down the road.

We don't need no stinking fat guys.

He decommits from Michigan, I decommit from him.... ******!!!

Perhaps RR asked Campbell to decommit so he could land his first blue-chip DL? :p

It was known that he would take visits, but this was not predicted by maize-shaded prognosticators.

One of our USC bpers (Kurt S?) mentioned it was more of an ASU-OSU battle at this point.
Besides, OSU controls the national perception of the B10. Start winning the big games again and all the talk will stop, until then we deserve it.
Bingo... ie USC.

"Home School Recruit"

OK, I don't usually follow the recruiting process very closely so if this is old news to all you experts, please just ignore it. Here's what I was told by a gal I've worked with. Her husband is a scUM grad and went to the game last Saturday with some of his buddies. She says he and his pals are all hopped up over some home schooled (not playing HS football) recruit who these guys were talking to at the game. He allegedly has an offer and is going to commit to scUM.

Sorry, but she didn't have any other info (like a name or position....probably a 5'7" WR, right?). But, for weeks she has been talking about all the usual scUM crap that her hubby spouts off about, like how their secret weapon is this super trainer, they are now in such wonderful condition, etc., etc.

Anybody else heard anything about this?

She is the tsun staffs fall back plan at DT. They are hoping Barwis will have her ready.

Tate Forcier, QB, California is home-schooled, and has his own personal QB coach. He formally committed last weekend, but it's been a poorly kept secret for awhile (long before Kevin Newsome decommitted). He plays for Scripps Ranch. I'm guessing they got the 'hs football' part wrong.

He was visiting last weekend and was a highly-hyped kid in UM circles for his polished passing and readiness to contribute early. Now that's a relative rating, but he would be more able to hop into the fray than the departed Kevin Newsome.

What are the chances that Tate is as fun to watch for a Buckeye fan as Jimmy Claussen?
He's not nearly as talented/polished coming out of high school, and has much less size & arm strength. However, his OL will likely be a bit more mature than Jimmah's, and he'll run at the defense more vice versa. If they have a strong defense, he might be able to be a game manager in year one. But with most/all of the DL graduating, chances are the D will still be average next fall. The thinking is that Tate comes in more ready to play, with less potential down the road like the other '09 qbs they've recruited.

They'll need backups in that system, however. That's one thing Newsome brought that the others did not, the size to take the inevitable pounding.
