Another question for those who follow recruiting closely.

Was Newsome scUM's #1 target QB recruit this year? If so does missing out on Pryor and Newsome in back to back recruiting years worry anyone in AA?

I can't help but think I'd be a bit concerned in their shoes but maybe I'm misinterpreting things.

Even if he was their #1 target you wont find any Scummers who readily admit it(well very few). Shaveadick Beaver and Forcier are their Co #1's is the response I would expect to get....

2 guys who aren't committed to them, and weren't their first choice, will make up for the loss of guys like Pryor and Newsome (probably because of the magic of RR's scheme and Barwis being himself), is the company line?

Who drafted Barwis? I'm confused about this analogy.

If I fight 36 winos and beat all of their asses, it doesn't mean I'm an MMA prodigy, it means I beat up 36 hobos. On the other hand, if I'm drafted in the 7th round, I'm drafted ahead of tons of other guys who were good enough to play college football (presumably colleges are recruiting the best players possible). They're not really comparable.

Well I can help you out with that Jax:
If Barwis had kept on fighting he would now be 150-0.

In fact they would have had to adjust the rules of MMA to make Barwis fights more fair like fighting two guys at once. Or the guy Barwis fights gets to pick a weapon of his choice to make the fight more fair.

So you finally understand!

Russell Shepard from Texas (LSU commit) was originally #1. He committed early, and then we went for Newsome.

Got it.

Whats you take on why RR's missing on these guys who would seem to be custom made for his offense? Pattern or coincidence x 3? (not being a smart ass, 3 is a pretty small sample size)

Pryor.. RR had 3 months to catch up to 2 years worth of connection between Tressel and Pryor. Just tough [censored].

About him being #1 I dunno.. Might have been Sheppard #1, then Newsome, then Forcier and Beaver.. but EVERYBODY has a different list so I don't think you'd find a good consensus.

But as we found out in 2004... with Max Martin being the #1 and everybody all on his nuts, Mike Hart the "nobody" we brought in, being #1 doesn't always mean anything. (Yes I know it's an anomaly, not the norm)

EDIT: Damn Sniper already posted it.. oh well

RR didnt really need to play catch up though because he had been recruiting Pryor for WVU for awhile.

Guys who feel like they might have a shot at playing QB in the pros aren't going to want to play in this offense. And spare me the Shaun King and Tulane comparisons because that's not the offense that Rich Rod wants to run. He may run a version of that offense this year with Threet and Shepherd, but that's not the offense that he WANTS to run. Pat White will get drafted in the 4th or 5th round and play WR in the NFL. Didn't he come in to WVU as a corner?

It's Feagin, not Sheppard. And Rodriguez was the only one to offer White as a QB. I know he had an LSU offer at WR.
