2008 Rivals/Scout/etc. National & Regional Rankings

I think they do it just to piss OSU fans off and nothing else...how could Adams be at 55? Almost as big of a travesty as Beanie not being the top 40. Interesting though that Sweat is at #11...almost scares me too take him if ESPN likes him.

Not just OSU, but Big Four offers (OSU, um, ND, PSU) are a good barometer for any Big Ten-region recruit. Beachum, for instance, doesn't have offers from any of them.

Are you saying that Oklahoma, Nebraska etc are not good barometers if a recruit is offered as Beachum was? Who would know Beachum's potential better than Bob Stoops at OU. Heck his brother Ron is the D coordinator at Mooney.

I don't think OU would do any favors for him. Remember Beachum was playing with a bad wheel for most of the season.

As for Zordich, just as good a player as BB.

We're talking about rankings of players within Ohio. With that said, I would put the Ohio State recruiters at the top of the list when it comes to evaluating Ohio talent.

There is no question that Beachum is a great prospect, but a top 5 Ohio prospect? That I'm not too sure about...

I agree with this statement. An offer from Ohio State is not the barometer to compare Ohio recruits. Linebacker "A" could have an offer from Ohio State and no offer from Oklahoma and Linebacker "B" could have no offer from Ohio State but an offer from Oklahoma . . . What does that prove? Not that one player is a better recruit than the other but that Ohio State thinks one linebacker is better than the other while Oklahoma thinks the other is better. You can't just look at who has an Ohio State offer. Too many other variables to consider.

Excellent way to put it. Usually if a player doesn't have an OSU offer, they aren't a top 5 player in the state. Not all the times but the majority of the time. For example, Nathan Williams doesn't have an OSU offer but I do believe a top 5 ranking would be justice. I think OSU is looking to bring in just 1 DE and are being selective, so instances as such have to be taken in consideration too. But I do think Beachum may be ranked too high though he is a very good prospect. I think a top 250 is just, but not top 100.

To further draw this out, florida had 13 kids on the list, texas had 12, and california had 11. georgia had 6, while ohio, alabama and virginia all had 5.

To make a bigger mockery of this, the rivals 100 had 18 offensive tackles on the top 100 list, none of which are mike adams.
