So Mike Adams had offers from Ohio State, Michigan, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, USC, Flroida and LSU, but there are 18 O-lineman better than him? This coming after he was featured no more than 2 weeks ago in RIVALS' rundown of the top offensive tackle prospects for 08'??? What a sham!

Stoneburner probably has the most impressive offer list of any TE prospect (thats what rivals lists him as), OSU, Florida, USC, ND, Michigan, Penn State...yet, he's not better than guys like Kavario Middleton and Chase Clement who probably couldn't break a 4.9 40?

They've gotta be effing with us...

the rationale given was that in the 2 game films rivals had, he looked bad, and that while crabtree fought to have him up there as he is still a top 5 player at that position, according to him, others disagreed.

so, basically they are passing the buck off to someone else as is typical in such cases.

Crabby's a good guy and fought hard for Mike... Problem is that he's basically the lone voice from the midwest that they listen to for the ratings part... BK will contribute on some info, but they use his info very little when making their ratings...
I'm giving them heck on the national board and by e-mail for this... I've told them for a couple of years now that they have a big southern bias come through (when they ask my opinion), but this is getting awful and hurting the reputation that they are seeking...

I just don't understand how they can run a story 2 weeks ago proclaiming him as possibly the best OT in the country, and now he's not one of the top 18? It makes them look even worse than they already do for not having him on the list...

No Mike Adams when he is the number 1 or 2 ranked prospect in everybodies mind besides a couple people that saw what 3 minutes of film...

Even Bill K the actual tOSU rivals site has him at #1...

It seems that it gets worse and worse every year...

The perception is that their rankings are unreliable...and now that perception has become a reality.

I think there is a Southern bias, but I also think there is a California bias. If Mike Adams played for Thousand Oaks Christian or Los Alamitos or St. Bonventure, he may well be a 5-star top 10 overall kid.

I can understand being biased towards OH, PA, FL, TX or Cali, but taking bias against one of those states is ridiculous.

Just two months ago Rivals put Mike Adams on their junior All-American First Team. What's changed since then, besides a verbal to OSU? What information did they rely upon to make their initial assessment? I'm glad I don't pay a monthly fee for the privilege of seeing the rest of their material.

i've been trying to get an answer out of people on that site that isn't just passing the buck to someone else who "outweighed" the others. I have yet to get anything of substance.

I have asked all of them the same question, and have yet to get a response to the following:

The topic of Eugene Clifford's plummet from last year was brought up. 2 seperate people said that they fought for him, but the evaluations of others dropped him in January. So, I've simply asked what evaluation this was. He dropped after the AA game. However, rivals ran an east and west "hot 11" during the entire week of practices, and Clifford was on it all week, including being in the top 6 or 7 on the final day. He went on to have 2 int's in that game.

Then, based on their evaluations, which had him as one of the top 10 players on the east squad, he dropped 20+ spots in their rankings. Yet somehow, everyone that fought for him, was vetoed.

Any site that has J.C Shurburt writing and evaluating for them is nothing more than crap at the bottom of the toilet! The guy is a hack...how he can go from little crap writer from Gainesville, Georgia to high school football talent evaluator is beyond me. As far as im concerned...as long as he is hired by rivals then rivals has no creditability with me.

OT Loaded in 2008 $

This is a video from two weeks ago. Funny how in this video, Mike Adams is described as a 1st rounder, 3-year starter at OSU, and one of the top 5 OLineman in the nation.

I realize these rankings do not mean much, but it is wierd how far he has fallen in the rankings over spring break.

As long as people keep paying to look at these rankings people (some of whom have no clue about talent) will continue to rank players. Of course there are a lot of biases when a player comes from a "big name" high school in California or Florida.

There is also a lot of bias was a kid commits. Why should they even bother ranking a kid once he has committed to a college. It is not in their best interest. People are interested in what school is a kid might go to and after he commits that becomes irrelevant sort of like his ranking.

Just a quick bone to pick...they have Nigel Bradham as the next best LB to Arthur Brown. I just watched his film over on Scout and was quite unimpressed. He is always late to the ball, makes back-of-the-jersey-grab tackles, he stands around in one spot for way too long after the ball is snapped, and his overall instincts are poor. Not to mention it doesn't look like he is always going full tilt...he does seem to have some size and athleticism, but he has a LONG way to go to be named even in a top 100 imo.
