Jonas Gary is the one kid I think is ranked WAY too high...that ranking is based solely on his Florida offer, IMO. Michigan, ND, Penn State and OSU have all passed on him thus far.
That will be kind of tough this year. Currently, the Buckeyes have commitments from Adams (#10 Scout; 5*), Brewster (#26 Scout), Torrence (#64 Scout), Stoneburner (#68 Scout), and Posey (#85 Scout); and have a very good chance at Jenkins (#27 Scout), Shugarts (#29 Scout), Sweat (#52 Scout), and Goebel (#59 Scout). While that class would be phenomenal, I think that the Bucks would also need to add Pryor (#4 Scout; 5*) and Hale (#15 Scout; 5*) and a couple of more 4* guys (for example, two of the following: McCarthy, Long, Scott, Mealer) in order to claim the top spot. Right now, too few numbers and too few "five star" prospects; and, losing Rudolph (#25, 5*) to Notre Dame hurt the rankings (not to mention the fact that TE is a position of need right now, and he is probably the best in the country).BGriffBuckeye;819382; said:This could resemble the Southern Cal's class of 2005. Not many guys (their 20 to our possible 17-18) yet they still managed the #1 team ranking on Rivals.
Amen. It all starts in the trenches, and already having Adams and Brew on board with Shugarts looming is as good as you can ask for before May. The rest is gravy from here on out to me. Pryor would be some really good gravy.LordJeffBuck;819409; said:That being said, I don't really care too much about recruiting service rankings. Ohio State has already filled two OL spots, and looks good with at least four other OL prospects, which is obviously the biggest position of need; and will bring in solid prospects at WR, LB, and RB. If the Buckeyes can sign a couple of quality DT's (Goebel, Mobley, for example) and some versatile athletes, then I'll be thrilled with the 2008 class, even if it isn't a "top 5" effort according to Scout or Rivals.
PA Top 25
1. Shayne Hale 6?4? 240 LB Gateway
Sheds blockers and gets to the ball. Runs well laterally, and is a big hitter.
2. Terrelle Pyror 6?6? 210 QB Jeannette
Super athlete, makes special plays happen when the ball is in his hands.
3. Jarred Holley 5?11? 170 CB Easton
A true cover corner. Plays the ball, not the man. Great ball skills.
4. Jonathan Baldwin 6?6? 215 WR/TE Aliquippa
Raw athlete, has a great speed, plus a 40 inch vertical. A star on the hardwood.
5. Lucas Nix 6?5? 280 OT/DT Thomas Jefferson
Gets a great jump on the ball, and he gets down the line in a hurry. Plays hard.
6. Andrew Sweat 6?2? 220 LB Trinity
A missile on the field that blows up everything in his way. Great tackler.
7. Hubie Graham 6?4? 225 TE/DE West Scranton
Terrific blocker and great hands, makes him the ideal TE prospect.
8. Vaughn Carraway 6?3? 175 WR Muhlenberg
Gets off the line of scrimmage with ease, attacks the ball at highest point.
9. Christian Wilson 6?3? 230 LB/ RB Montour
Jumbo athlete with untapped potential excels at just about every position on the field.
10. Nolan Kearney 6?4? 225 QB Downingtown West
Has a strong arm, and great release. Thought he was the top QB in the state last year.
11. AJ Alexander 5?10? 185 WR/CB Altoona
Isn?t the most physical player, however, he is the fastest player in the state.
12. Mark Wedderburn 6?5? 235 TE Cardinal O?Hara
Still growing into his body. The most athletic of a great crop of PA tight ends.
13. Nick Moody 6?2? 215 LB Roman Catholic
Bit of a tweener, but a great fit for the Noles, who prefer speedy undersized linebackers.
14. Matt Stankiewitch 6?4? 290 OG/OT Blue Mountain
He?s every bit of the player that former PSU?er Tyler Reed was in HS. PSU got a steal.
15. Shariff Blake 6?1? 210 LB/S Harrisburg
Will be a rare four year starter for the Cougars. Makes big plays, always around the ball.
16. Jermaine Robinson 6'2" 180 S/QB Brashear
Great range. Athletic playmaker that should be a standout safety at West Virginia .
17. Cameron Saddler 5'7" 160 Ath/CB Gateway
If he was 5'10", he'd be a Five Star player. Will be a fantastic PR and KR.
18. Ed Tinker 6'2" 200 WR/S Brashear
One of the better 2-Way players in the state, lots of athleticism. Needs to work on technique, but has the tools to be a great safety.
19. Antwuan Reed 5'9" 170 CB Greater Johnstown
Great looking athlete, should challenge for playing time at Pitt as a freshman, and be in the mix for kick and punt return duties.
20. Tyler Sands 6'5" 285 OT Boyertown
Quick and has good footwork. Better run blocker than pass protector at this
stage, lots of upside here.
21. Mike Cruz 6'3" 245 TE Bishop McCort
Great hands and size, would make him the top tight end in the state in any other year.
22. Quentin Williams 6'4" 230 TE/DE Central Catholic
Strong at the point of attack, decent speed, like him better on offense.
23. Chris Palmer 6'3" 290 OG/DT St. Neumann-Goretti
Been pegged as a combine warrior, but is a very solid player. Future is on defense.
24. Kaleb Ramsey 6'6" 260 DE/TE Laurel Highlands
Finally focused on football, expect him to climb up the rankings. Big-Time player.
25. Jewhan Edwards 6'2" 310 DT Roman Catholic
Could play in a 3-4, but his style of play is clearly suited for a 4-3.
