2008 Rivals/Scout/etc. National & Regional Rankings

I used to think that about Rivals cheetah, but look at how they ranked Ohio this year...several kids without OSU offers ahead of kids who are committed to OSU, including a kid like Stoneburner who had offers from a whose who (USC, Florida, Notre Dame, Penn State, Michigan, etc.) yet is behind guys like Moore and Beachum who both had great offers, but not like Stoney did.

It doesn't help that "Irish" Steve Hare runs the Ohio Preps site for Rivals (and has input on the rankings) and has Zebrie Sanders over Mike Adams for the best OL in OH... Crabby and Farrell actually liked Adams a whole lot from what I hear, but Burton, Schurbutt, Hare, and a few others don't... But alas, enough conspiracy theories here... We all know what we're getting, and I don't think anyone would trade it...

This is laughable...first, to say that I have input in the national rankings...not true.

In fact, I couldn't disagree more with the Rivals.com national ranking of Kyle Rudolph as the No. 1 player in the state of Ohio...and I work for the NOTRE DAME site!

It is true that at Ohio Varsity we rank Sanders as the No. 1 OL in the state and Adams as No. 2. We've seen both in person and on film and we've had plenty of input from high school coaches that have coached against them both.

We aren't talking about "miles" of difference here, but currently our opinion is that Sanders is more refined and technically sounds. Both have high ceilings and I certainly wouldn't be upset if Adams were No. 1 instead. It's that close.

I'm not sure where you are getting your information about who ranked Adams where, but it's not correct.

Really don't see what is all that laughable.
He never mentioned Rudolph.
He stated you have input in an Ohio Prep rankings (apparently not directly for rivals) which probably has at least some impact in Rivals thought process.
He also stated that you have Sander over Adams (which you admit), which is probably funnier than anything he posted.

He stated that I have input in the national rankings and inferred that because I'm "Irish" Steve Hare I have a Notre Dame bias. My point about Rudolph is to show that I don't have an "Iirsh" bias.

Yes, we have SanderS ranked ahead of Adams and aside from the fact that you are a Buckeye fan, please compare and contrast the two offensive linemen. I'd love to hear your analysis of both and why you feel Adams is better.

I've read plenty of opinions on this situation (Adams being ranked too low) but never any basis for that opinion. I'd love to hear some analysis of the two offensive linemen and why you feel Adams is better.

I certainly will respect your opinion.

Would you care to give your analysis, with supporting details.

Not here I wouldn't--I've already been thrown to the lions!

What do I know that OSU, etc. don't know? Well, I think my opinion is consistent with almost 30 other Division I powerhouses including that of Miami, Fla., who has one of the top offensive line coaches in the country.

Recently, we did a comparison of the number of offensive linemen put into the NFL by Miami and Ohio State...while the total number was pretty close (can't remember the exact figure) the disparity in where those players were drafted was pretty high.

Miami had many more first day picks, especially at tackle, than Ohio State.

Art Kehoe is one fine offensive line coach and he develops some of the best offensive linemen in college. If he saw enough in Zebrie Sanders to offer a scholarship last fall, than I'd say there's enough evidence to warrant Sanders receiving a very high ranking.

That's not my analysis, that's just some supporting evidence.

Yeah and that's also why Miami's offense has been so good these last few years right Steve? Also, which 30 "powerhouses" (by the way, there are not 30 powerhouses in college football) had Sanders over Adams? It didn't include most of the teams who have been having success on the field recently (USC, Florida, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, LSU) so which ones are you talking about?

So that Ole Miss offer put Sanders over the top, while the USC, Ohio state, Notre Dame, and Florida offers are chopped liver?

I just don't quite understand that reasoning.

No one is saying that Zebrie isn't talented or anything like that, it's just that there is VERY LITTLE evidence to suggest he's a better prospect than Adams.

Um, Art Kehoe is not the OL coach at Miami; Jeff Stoutland is.
