I fixed the 'others receiving votes' portion of the first post.

And I guess the coaches missed the fact that during the SEC media days last week, twice as many folks picked Florida to win the SEC.

inthebleachers.2008-sec-media-day-predictions

I usually post these up each season so that I can look back and see how good the main stream media does picking each conference. Since I was gone last week, a few BCS Conferences had their Media Days, so I will start with the best conference, the SEC. Here are the predictions from the media with first place votes in parentheses:
Eastern Division
1. Florida (45) 98
2. Georgia (23) 121
3. Tennessee (2) 222
4. South Carolina 266
5. Kentucky 356
6. Vanderbilt 407
Western Division
1. Auburn (48) 99
2. LSU (21) 120
3. Alabama 228
4. Mississippi State 299
5. Ole Miss (1) 338
6. Arkansas 386
SEC Champion - Florida (36), Georgia (18), Auburn (13), LSU (1), Tennessee (1), Ole Miss (1).

Not really overwhelming for Georgia as #1.

Won't last long though; When we take care of business @ L.A. we'll be an easy #2 - then Richt will show why he's... well, Richt and then we'll ride that #1 all the way to Miami.

I'm already tired of the Georgia love affair.

[National media] But Georgia's schedule is so difficult - if they make it through that they'll earn their spot in the BCS Title Game - they play 5 teams that are in this preseason top-25 poll. Look at USC - they only play 3 such teams. [/National media]

[BP poster - the voice of reason] Using your logic, shouldn't it be pointed out that Ohio State also plays 5 teams that are in this poll's top-25? [/BP poster]

[National media] Sorry, we're ignoring that fact, it doesn't fit in with our year-long story that the Big Ten sucks. [/National media]

Given our schedule this year that poll is perfect for us imo.

We control our own destiny from Day 1 and I sure as hell wouldn't mind potentially going into a NC game as the underdog again.

I hope UGA runs the table and the media love fest is never ending. I want our poor slow plodding midwestern bumpkins to listen to UGA GOAT discussions for 6 weeks before the bowl game.
