You should be playing for one this year. Three in a row will be a remarkable achievement. I'll be there rooting for you, unless....
The familiar trance overtakes you and your brethren?

So out of complete curiousity, we'll we be getting your support should tOSU play against....Georiga?

Unfortunately, in that event, as it stands.....now.... my loyalties will fall in the direction of the SEC. I have not rooted for an OOC team to beat an SEC team in my adult lifetime. So for now it is a slight tilt toward the flea infested butt sniffers...barely....while hoping the post-game Mutt team plane hits a mountain and bursts into flame after takeoff, of course.

I have supported Georgia in the past but always with gritted teeth.

The rivalry is a little hotter now that they have won a couple in a decade. It only took a win or so to turn them back into the obnoxious barking assholes that I remember. So I am reserving the right to change my mind and root for the Buckeyes pending the WLOCP results.

I don't think you'll ever really get what a compliment that is.:)

As a matter of fact, I think I do.

That said; what IF a loss to Georgia is the only thing that kept UF out of the title game? So therefore it would be Georgia vs tOSU and you would obviously be quite pissed about the rednecks taking away your shot...

how about then? :wink2:

Pre-Season ESPN Poll

ESPN - Buckeyes rise to No. 1 in updated Top 25 - College Football

Spring practices have wrapped up, so it's time to take another look at the preseason top 25. Injuries, suspensions and dismissals littered the spring, but how did they affect the rankings? Well, to start things off, there's been a change at the top.
194.gif

1. Ohio State Buckeyes

Raise your hand if you want to see the Buckeyes back in the BCS title game ? didn't think so. But with an extraordinary number of juniors and seniors returning, Ohio State seems poised to become the first team in the 112-year history of the Big Ten to win three straight outright league titles. Even if the Buckeyes lose at USC on Sept. 13, they might end up playing in the BCS title game in Miami on Jan. 8.......cont.

I don't like us being #1 at the start of the season, I'd rather be around the #5 area...What do you guys think?

I don't like it because we have a bullseye on us every weekend (but we do anyways, so it's not that big of a deal), but I like it because if you start the season at #1, you take care of business every week and you're in the title game.

If we were at 5 and two other teams took care of business every week, we wouldn't get the nod.

This is unfair, but it's the way it is.

EDIT: And yeah, fuck ESPN for their little comments there. Whether anyone wants us there or not has nothing to do with how good of a team we are. At least they realized this, since we are at #1.

That is also very true...but I figured if we were #5, USC would be ahead of us, and if we went undeafeated, I think we would have a 99% chance of playing for it all again. But like you said, it can be unfair

Oh yeah the comments are shit from ESPN

Yeah, I don't disagree with anything you've said, I just don't want people to have another reason not to put us in the title game if we do go undefeated.

I have this feeling that if we start at #1 and end at #1, we have a better shot at going than if we start at something less than #3 (assuming there are two other undefeated schools like Georgia and Oklahoma, for example).

As much as i hate E!spn, they aren't the only one sniping us with that crap. It's coming from every news source and publication. Get used to it.

Yep...the Bucks have something to prove. The ignorant idiots of the world aren't going to shut up until we win it all. Sucks, but that's just the way it is.

Something tells me though that even when we are crowned National Champs again, that I'll still get crap from the Buckeye haters. They'll probably say crap like, "One out of 3 sucker," or "took ya long enough" or everyone gets lucky once in a while." Ah yes...I can hear it now...and I'll be laughing the whole time as I run up and down my quiet street with my block O flag streaming behind me!

I hope they say that. You could respond to their ignorance with so much that would make them look so stupid. I've said this before, I'd take 1/3 for the rest of my life in a heartbeat.

I think that if you say your reason is that being #1 puts a bullseye on our back or anything like that, I'm dinging your ass back into the Mesozoic Era...I shit you not.

Anyone--that's anyone--who is fucking stupid enough to think that being #5 (or anything other than #1) to start the season is preferable to starting at #1 is truly a retard. We're Ohio State, and everyone we play has our game date circled on their calendars, regardless of our ranking. We never fly under anyone's radar or sneak up on anyone. You think USC is going to play us less tough if we were #5 instead of #1?

If we start out at #5 and any two of those ahead of us don't lose, then even if we win out we're fucked. If we start at #1, we obviously control our own destiny.
