2008 Bracketology Discussion

Somebody needs to take a sledgehammer to these ESPN talking head idiots. Bob Knight starts it off saying that the tournament shouldn't have automatic bids and everybody agrees. Jay Bilas proceeds to say that "It's a misnomer that this tournament has the best 64 teams. IT DOESN"T" Oh really? Then, he proceeds to say that there are over 300 teams in Divison I - "That's too many" And then in the heights of hubris they say that they watch these teams over and over again, so "we know which teams are hte best"

Oh really? Just the fact that htere are 300 teams shows that you need automatic bids because nobody knows who the best 64 teams are. There is no way to compare a 28-4 team from a crap conference and a 19-13 OSU team. Furthermore, these small schools will never get teams to come to their building.

So who do we get/want in the NIT?

Crushing Fredo or one of the other regional state colleges would make me feel sssooooooooo goooood!
We might get Dayton or Akron or possibly even Cincinnati but I think the latter is less likely. They will try to match us up with the team from Ohio IMO

I'd laugh if we ended up playing Florida sometime during the "tournament"

The NIT is the equivalent of the Weedeater Bowl. even if you win, who cares?

Even though I agree it has little importance, it would still be nice to see them do well in a tournament setting and build off it next year.

well, it would be nice to do well, but personally, I don't think it matters one bit in regards to how we do next year. Didn't scUM recently win the NIT?

If you think it does, then it would theoretically be better to win the NIT, then go one and done in the NCAA.
