OK - No feedback from the Eagles and it may be time to move this forward with community support and 3 votes and you're in:

Quick Review of the Eagles needs, draft pick in Rd 1 and Off-Season moves:

Draft Pick Round 1 - Jeff Otah LT out of Pittsburgh.

Needs entering Draft:
Wide Receiver – Until the Eagles acquire a franchise No. 1 wide receiver, the talents of their quarterbacks will be wasted.
Offensive Tackle – Winston Justice will be the future right offensive tackle—not left offensive tackle. A future left offensive tackle must be drafted.
(FILLED BY OTAH ROUND 1).

Linebacker - Takeo Spikes was released after just one season in Philly and even though they have a bunch of youngsters that they seem to like they are still severely lacking in the depth department.
Cornerback – If the Eagles, who make a habit of drafting lineman early, don't go offensive tackle in the first round, they could very well look at the top corner on the board at that time.
Strong Safety – The Eagles also need to upgrade to a dominating play-making strong safety.
Free Safety – The need to groom a replacement for Brian Dawkins, who will be 35 next season, shouldn't be overlooked.
Defensive End - This isn't a big need, but a young body to throw into the rotation and develop for the future could be had in the mid-to-late rounds.
Return Specialist – The Eagles struck out on their selection of Jeremy Bloom as a return man, so they could use an electric return specialist to add a boost to the return game.
Punter – An upgrade at punter would be nice as well.

Of those needs they helped themselves with signing Asante Samuel to bolster the Defensive Backfield. Added Chris Clemons as a dependable DE for the present. They also signed Dan Klecko, Fullback / Defensive Tackle out of the Colts.

WR and Strong Safety seem the most pressing needs to me, but you may have other ideas.

WR - A good value as we near the end of round 3 could be Andre Caldwell out of Florida

SS - Thomas DeCoud could be the best Safety available - but does he really fit the bill of a Strong Safety. More a tweener (versatile though) as he played both CB and Safety spots for the Golden Bears. The highest rated protypical Strong Safety is probably Tommy Z out of ND - but he should continue to drop to mid-round range.

So -

I suggest for the Eagles WR Andre Caldwell out of Florida.

Seconds are alternate opinions?

We wondered how long the trail of Defensive picks would last - and it borken by a Wide Receiver.

Here are a couple of clips of Andre in action - this one gets the "Whoot" for his move to turn the corner .. housing it from 66 yards out against the in-state rival Seminoles.

Then there is a compilation put together around the time of the Senior Bowl:

That is the 8th Wide Receiver taken in this draft Chris and this late into the second round there is little doubt that the Eagles get value at that position.

The Eagles have been damned near one-dimensional in the passing game for a year or more, with Westbrook as a receiver out of the backfield being their most dependable option. Caldwell is precisely the type of player who can provide a threat as a primary or as a slot receiver - making it harder for opponents to cover what had become a pretty predictable Eagles Offense. Though Andre could also see some time as return specialist early in his career, I expect the Eagles to look elsewhere to fill that need in this draft.

I was watching and waiting for who would pull the trigger on Chris Johnson.

Chris' measurables at the NFL combine wowed erybody. Top performer in the 40-yard dash - not just amongst RBs but also among nearly everyone.

He also showed an excellent Vertical Leap and the Broad jump. Not many folk know this (Berman - anyone who reads NFL.com knows this) but Johnson was originally recruited by East Carolina as a Wide Receiver. So his speed isn't out of keeping with where some thought he might project.

Electrifying speed and good hands adds up to huge upside for Johnson. Think of him as the next incarnation of Westbrook a do-everything back for the Eagles and you may not prove far wrong.

The Cardinals are excited that Chris was available to us. We targeted him in this spot once Mendenhall was taken. He will add a new element to our squad. He'll be great in single back sets, peeling off and lining up in the slot. He's not a banger, but he's like a hybrid Daren Sproles and Brian Westbrook. Johnson and his 4.2 speed will be our kick return specialist. He'll be a great weapon for Matt Leinhart.

We were thrilled to see Lawrence Jackson slide to this spot in the draft. Some draft gurus had him going as early as the first round, due to the lack of DE depth in this year's draft class. With the departures in free agency this offseason, it was crucial for us to bring in an impact lineman, and we're hoping Lawrence is that guy.
