For NT I suggest Trevor Laws and for ILB I agree with Mayo being a good choice but I will nominate pick Curtis Lofton

EDIT: Jarod Mayo for some reason the find function passed over Lofton and so did my eyes as being drafted

With the 46th pick the Detroit Lions pick ILB/MLB Jerod Mayo out of the University of Tennessee:

The Bengals are on the clock -- likely revisit the draft early tomorrow morning.

(Pick lists are already in from the two teams following the Bengals).

With the 16th pick in the second round, the Vikings select:

CB Brandon Flowers, Virginia Tech

Despite his slow 40-time at the combine, this guy can cover people.

Well this year the Bengals certainly seem to have Big-D on their minds - no more puddy-tats for the Queen City Cats?

Here is a clip of Pat Sims showing his ability to shed blocks and stop a goal-line stand versus Florida ...

Mmm - maybe the Bungles got a hold of something good here?

D!, D!, D! it's all about the D! this morning.

Let's see Brandon Flowers in action - aside from his cover skills this kid knows how to lay some wood.

One of those quirks of the draft - a run on Defensive players. 3 in a row with Mayo top start it off.

I really like these last two picks. Solid players that fill real needs for both teams.

Sheer speed isn't everything and one 40-time isn't an indicator of a player's ability. Flowers seems to get in the right place at the right time and has multiple interceptions to his name - and as you we saw earlier this one tough kid who can suit up as CB or can play as a hard hitting safety. Knows how to shed blocks and get tackles for loss - good solid pick and the Vikings will make good use of his talents.

On Sims - this is another of those prototypical faster DTs out of the SEC - yeah "SEC Speed" I know - but for Sims it is really about strength and penetration, his ability to disrupt the running game is something the Bengals have sorely lacked these last few seasons. Not just a good pick for Cincinnati almost a "must pick" to shore up a leaky D that has been one of the worst against the run.

Things are moving along briskly this morning ...

With the 17th pick of the 2nd round, (48th actual pick after we deduct the [strike]cheaters[/strike] - eh, Patriots void in round one)

The Atlanta Falcons pick CB Patrick Lee out of Auburn.

Patrick Lee is a really interesting prospect - whose position on draft boards has varied from very high to a mid-rounder.

What characterizes Lee, more than anything else, is potential - his upside.

He came out of the talent rich Miami Florida area with a reputation as a very gifted athlete. State long jump champion and a speedy but large DB.

Lee has all the physical traits you look for in a corner - speed he recorded a 4.41 at the NFL Combine and at 200 pounds he isn't going to get easily out-muscled by most Wide Receivers. A steady presence for Auburn in his prior 3 years of play, this 5th-year Senior really came on in his 2007 campaign recording 55 tackles and 4 interceptions.

Lee has also played strong roles in the return game on kick-offs and could see time as a gunner on punt returns.
