Speaking of executions, who killed Woody's post...the one about LaPorta being beaned??

:iowa2:

In an unrelated note: this is a yellow bird with slanted eyes.

It's a mystery...I've been looking for that post all day, but I can't seem to see it. Truth be told, I haven't been this puzzled since I read Sherlock Holmes: The Adventure of the Yellow Face, by Arther Conan Doyle.

The Ohio State University beats Princeton even when counting athletes participating for their countries but I'm sure other universities also have their athletes participating for their countries.

I wasn't trying to start a debate... after all, I'm here at Buckeye Planet not any Princeton boards. I doubt one even exists...
NBC is terrible... first all of the main coverage is delayed 3 hours out here... FINALLY, I get some live coverage with early morning Brazil-v-Argentina soccer action, and they commercial right through Argentina's 2nd goal :smash: :smash: :smash:
Soccer is a small part of the Olympics so they aren't going to be able to sell the in-game sponsorship seen in the World Cup, so they have to run commercials without TV time outs.

I'm not sure how they're supposed to be able to predict when a team is going to score.

If he didn't want his family executed, he should have run...:paranoid:

Aw, come on! I suppose the next thing you're going to tell me is that Chinese female gymnasts are underaged. This kind of anti-Sinoism is unacceptable!

Four years ago I watched the Olympics on a standard def TV. I watched the network feed and saw what they offered on one station. There were other stations available (on a pay basis IIRC) but no easy way to keep up even if I had the feed. If I wanted to watch a tape delay it was on a VCR where starting and stopping was a chore and watching while you skipped nigh impossible.

Now here I am DVRing 16 or more hours per day of HDTV (my biggest limitation is a 20 hour limit on HD material that I can save on disk). I get to see pretty much anything I want at my leisure. And the picture is incredible. And I am spoiled.

Once you have done HD Standard Def is unwatchable. Even the Brazilian twins doing their duet sync swimming isn't worth the effort.

And my new best friend is the FF button. Not only can I skip through all the bullshit (at FF3) and "feel good" stories (unless the wife is in the room) but I have time to watch an entire men's water polo match - at FF1 speed of course. You can follow the action at that speed and if the game gets close just slow it down.

Not only that, but you get some interesting effects. Like the strange shuffling motion runners in the 1600m exhibit at FF1, or watching athletes run right through the jumps in the 3000m steeplechase.

All in all it gets my 16 hours down to manageable 3 or 4 of sofa time.

A far cry from when I had to walk five miles up hill in the snow just to see the men's gold medal basketball game.

(Kinda makes me feel bad for all those starving children in Darfur who couldn't get BTN even if they were willing to switch carriers.)
