Scout Free Board (re: Marvin Robinson)

Hey guys, just got back from vaction and it's good to be back in the ol'USA. Talked with Marvin's HC and he says that his west coast trip had some high and lows. Seems USC campus was great and the talks with Pete Carroll were great but Marvin had some reservations about the area outside the campus. He did however fall in love with UCLA and their campus/location and if he has a favorite right now it's UCLA! Marvin's brother was heard to say " You'd have to be crazy not to pick UCLA over USC." Remember that Marvin's parents plan on moving to where ever Marvin attends college. I also know that his Dad liked OSU campus and the surrounding area and his Mom wants to visits there next year ( contrary to reports from the "dark" side). As of right now, when ask about his top 5, Marvin list them as UCLA, OSU, USC, UM and UF. IMO there will be no more trips this year as Marvin gears up for his upcoming season.
Marvin's HC also tells me there is more than just Marvin at his school. He projects 4 maybe 5 D I prospects from this years 08 team with a rising freshman and sophomore to be who will rival Marvin on the recruiting boards. OSU has the inside track on several of them and are just waiting for the season to start. So sit back boys and enjoy ... August is right around the corner.

U-M has state's top prospect, but MSU has 6 of top 10 in latest rankings

Detroit Cass Tech defensive tackle William Campbell is the state's top college football prospect according to Rivals.com's most recent statewide rankings.

Campbell, a five-star recruit, committed to Michigan last year and gives the Wolverines the state's top player for the sixth time in seven years.

Michigan has just one other oral commitment from a player in the statewide top 40 - Campbell's teammate from Cass Tech, running back Teric Jones (No. 11 overall).

Michigan State, led by running back Edwin Baker and linebacker Chris Norman (No. 2 and 3, respectively) have commitments from six of the state's top 10 players according to the list. Continued........

Wow, this sounds very John Cooperish. Recruit well nationally while losing the battle in your home state.
RR has never recruited in Michigan before. Gotta give him a year or two to "network" before you can pin the can't-recruit-in-state label on. After all, Cooper had 13 years to earn that reputation.

Ohio is generally Muuuch deeper in football talent than Michigan. The state of Michigan typically will not have more than a few players of the caliber of an elite program.

Cooper not locking down the state was horrible, because there were many great players every year that went out of state, where as I don't think that is the case with TSUN, although the state has had some good talent in recent years.

yeah....being Michigan and all makes it hard to out recruit Michigan State. I thought they were little brothers.
