Well lets not get too overboard on this. Most have known for a long time that scUM's program doesn't do any better job with academics or staying out of trouble than ours did at its worst.

I for one won't point fingers at them, but just continue in my eye rolling when they start their holier than thou shit. It wasn't that long ago everytime I turned around OSU was getting smeared in the media. Now its their turn.

Agreed entirely... that's moreso what I'm addressing with my posts.

Perhaps. Has this sniffed the mainstream news? ESPN sprinted to the nestand with stories like this on OSU.

I don't pay much attention to the mainstream media anymore so I can't say for sure but that seems to be a legit point.

What? No mechanical engineers? No molecular biologists?

I just to go and check out what our players are enrolled in. I tried to list only those who have been on campus at least two years, and thus have had a decent chance to decide what they want to major in.

To be fair, many of the guys are just completing their second year on campus. I didn't declare until spring of my second year even though I had a clear idea of what I wanted to pursue.

Further, I do remember last year's spring game program having a updated list of majors along with the roster. I wouldn't be surprised if this was the case this year as well, as you'd never know about Scott or Evege or Whaley at FB if you were just looking on the website.

From my count of the BP scholarship grid, 25 players should have a major nailed down by now, and 20 have declared. Boeckman and Gholston and Abdallah and Lane and Mitchum should've declared by now as this is the end of their third year. 35 guys will be starting their first or second year in the fall, leaving 18 (Laurinaitis/Robiskie/Worthington's HS class) who should be at the point of declaring.

At the same time Florida is really making hay from their grad rates in football and basketball, along with two NCs, easily on a par with the best of the Big 10 in terms of academics and miles ahead of the rest of the SEC except Vandy.

A tip of the hat to the gators.

I didn't declare a major until the begining of my fourth year. I was taking all the classes for Mechanical Engineering, but never bothered to fill out the 5.5 x 8.5 card that I was supposed to fill out to declare a major until then. I know a guy who claimed to have never declared a major. He said the school finally just guessed he was a Physics major, and listed him as such. (By the way, he's a credible guy, so I believe him, if that means anything.)

My point is that, if there's no rule that you have to have declared a major by a certain date, some people won't declare a major, even if they're making legitimate steps toward a degree.
