"I thought when he picked Michigan, he jumped the gun a little bit, and I was disappointed," Johnston said. "I told him that."
Johnston is not a big fan of Wolverines coach Rich Rodriguez, who told Newsome he was "their guy" and then continued to recruit several other top quarterbacks. Michigan received a second QB commitment just days after Newsome's pledge.
I find this all very hard to believe. What does Rich Rodriguez's mouth have to say about this?

I stopped by the UM board to see what was up and there was an honest to God post that said "He is probably afraid of the competition."

This kid was the second coming of Vince Young a few weeks ago - now he is on the verge of being the second coming of Justin Boren (as UM defines him),

You can't make this shit up.

Michigan has Tressel Concerned

Tressel's recruiting of a lot of DB's in his current class (3 CB's so far with another one thought to be verballling soon in Corey Brown) is evidence that Tricky Dicky Tressel knows full well that a Maize and Blue storm is about to hit him and he needs the personnel to try and defend against it. Contrary to what "many nuckleheads" think, RR is not being underestimated. He is a force to be reckoned with and god willing, RR and the Wolverines prove that time and time again as UM brings a world of hurt on the bunch of dopers in ColumbASS.

Granted, it's from the scout board, so this kinda stuff is to be expected, but still...:slappy:

Where are all the Michigans fans that called me a Buckeye homer when I said VT was not going to give up on Newsome. IMO they lose this kid late and IMO it will hurt them bad. My buddy that lives and coaches in Virginia has said many times this kid will be a Hokie... he wasn't kidding.

When you've had a bad day at work, all it takes is 5 minutes reading the "TSUN News/Recruiting" thread to cheer you back up before going to bed. It's like a childhood dream, growing up during the Cooper era. Karma finally got to that school up north like only my dreams could conjure up. I like to think that RR is just going to be an extension of that Karma and he'll prove it first hand here this November. Karma's been biting Rich in the ass since he left WV.

In the meantime, I'm having sweet dreams. Night y'all.

I don't recall anyone claiming VT would give up on Newsome.

However, if he drops Michigan because he doesn't want to compete with Beaver, why would he go to Tech and sit behind Tyrod Taylor for maybe three years?

considering taylor would be a junior by the time he gets to campus, it won't be 3 years.

and being the heir apparent to someone that will be gone in two years is a different scenario than the possibility of being the backup to someone in the same class as you.

Yeah. Doesn't that kind of defuse any "afraid of competition" arguments one might find on various other sites?
