Spring practice notes.

.....
Carlos Brown , who had asked to move to cornerback before spring practice, has returned to tailback. That switch adds much-needed depth to that position.

Backup tailback Kevin Grady will undergo surgery today to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. Grady suffered the injury last Saturday in practice, and it is uncertain when he might return to football.

Hart returns as the starter for his final season, and Brandon Minor and Brown are the backups.

"Brandon Minor has had an excellent spring," Carr said. "He's much more confident because he's been around, and he got a lot of work.

"The disappointment, of course, is Kevin Grady. Kevin was having an outstanding spring, and he was developing the patience it takes to play at that position."

Once upon a time we had a coach named Cooper. He wasn't a bad coach, he had plenty of talent but his teams lacked real discipline. Hence he was beaten pretty consistently by a coach named Carr because his teams had just a little more discipline.

Along came Tressel and he would settle for nothing less than total and complete discipline no matter what the ramifications were to the team. After awhile, the team knew it was not a good idea to cross Tresseland everyone toed the line. That little edge makes all the difference.

Organization and discipline make ALL the difference, anything else puts you in 2nd place. I.E. Michigan. Still good but dosen't have quite what it takes.

By the way, how the hell did I get a green one?

Disabled vets suit: Wheelchair seats scarce at Big House

DETROIT -- A disabled veterans group sued the University of Michigan on Tuesday, saying there aren't enough spaces for wheelchair users at Michigan Stadium, one of the largest football stadiums in the country.

The federal lawsuit, filed by the Michigan Paralyzed Veterans of America, claims university officials are intentionally sidestepping the rules of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

A $226 million renovation is planned for the 107,000-seat stadium, which currently has 90 wheelchair-accessible seats. The schools says the renovation work will increase that to 282 seats, but the suit argues that about 1,000 wheelchair-accessible seats are required.

And they'll want 1,000 handicapped parking spots, about 950 of which will be empty on game day... :roll1:

That may be true, but picking sides in a dispute between disabled veterans and the TSUN athletic department is an easy choice for me.

A rough spring

Contender Michigan mired in tumultuous offseason

On paper, the Michigan Wolverines -- which return nearly every offensive star from a team that finished 11-2 last season -- have to be on the short list of national-championship contenders for 2007. That is, as long as you're willing to overlook those two defensive meltdowns to end last season.

Or the four departing members of that unit about to be picked very high in the NFL Draft.

Or the Wolverines' recent struggles against rival Ohio State (1-5 since 2001) and in bowl games (four straight losses).

"I haven't beat Ohio State, I haven't won a national championship, I haven't won a Big Ten championship in three years ... the whole team," Hart said.
"When you haven't beaten Ohio State in three years, when you haven't won a national championship in awhile, when you haven't won a Big Ten championship in three years, that's what we want to do.

"That's our motivation right there, and that's what we're working on."

Didn't they win the Big Ten championship in 2004? His freshman year? I believe that if they had beat Ohio State (they didn't) they would have won it outright. But since they lost, they tied for the championship. Or maybe since another game later that day worked out in their favor, they still won. Regardless, they went to the Rose Bowl and lost to Texas.

They backed into a tie for the B10 and a Rose Bowl later that day when Iowa beat Wisconsin.
