Here's how I see it breaking down:

Beanie > Minor + Grady
Saine = Brown
Herron > Horn
Thomas = McGuffie (minor impact this year)

I think Saine vs Brown & Thomas vs McGuffie are pretty comparable. Even if you believe McGuff will become a better player, I doubt either have a big role this year. I think Herron's a better pure RB, where Horn is a pretty average back whose calling card is speed.

However, none of those 6 have proven themselves considerably better, either in HS or college. That leaves Beanie, Minor & Grady.

End result:

If given the choice of Beanie or Minor/Grady, I think that's a no brainer.

MGoBlog Spring Game Breakdown

One rather ominous portion
Secondary. Except for the nasty rumors flying around that Donovan Warren might transfer, cornerback is set with three returning starters. As for the rumors: they're widespread enough that I give them credence but I think they're unlikely to come to fruition. If he was going to go he probably would have already announced it a la Boren. And if they were serious he probably would have missed some time in the spring a la Carlos Brown last year. Knock on wood.

cornerback is set with three returning starters.

this is the part that kills me. These guys have said it so often now they actually believe it...Trent is a good corner all of a sudden.

Go watch the first half of The Game last year. They only threw at him 3 times and all 3 times his man was wide open, he got away with a flying tackle on one of the 3 or they would have all been completions.

They have also talked themselves into thinking they are going to have a dominant defense because of how good the returning front 7 will be (yes the same one that gave up 200+ yards to Beanie last year.)

scUM fans have always been delusional but they are getting into the PSU fans end of the spectrum now.

BTW if Warren transfers I can't wait to hear how soft he was and how he probably wouldn't have been a starter anyway.

IMO they are looking at this backwards. Boren announced when he did because it was the process of practice itself that was the problem. Since you can't transfer till the end of the quarter anyhow the logical thing to do is keep your mouth shut, keep the heat off your own back, and get what you can out of Spring drills.

Or maybe, just maybe, he saw how the team performed in the spring game.

or maybe....just maybe....boren was intending to stick it out thru spring ball and then decide.....but the constant trash talking by coaches and belitting of other players got to him and he started defending others and coaches felt he was a threat to them & so the rest is history.

naaah, he was just fat, soft, lazy and had forgotten how to play since the coaching change took place. :wink2:

And yet another top instate prospect Penn St. lost out on.

EDIT- I guess they didn't offer him a schollie. Still, a pretty big prospect to let get away.
