If this response, on the part of the "fanbase" of our greatest rival, wasn't so morbid , I'd be prone to yawn.

These spoiled brats have become permanently unhinged. Is it just me, or has this become a ledge these fools seem to occupy seasonally (or even weekly) of late?

It's sad to see this happening at TSUN. It makes me wonder if they really needed a new football coach to resuscitate their competitiveness, as much as they need a new fan base to resuscitate their honor... :shake:

Without any happiness on my part, I fear for the rivalry. There is some spin that these kind of change at UM are good, that it will revitalize both tsun and the Big Ten. I hope that is the case. But I worry that UM is in for a long and difficult journey with an uncertain end.

A second-class UM is not a good thing for tOSU or the Big Ten. Hope I'm wrong about where tsun is heading, but there are some troubling signs.

Also, the previous 4 years included going into The Game in 2006 with a perfect record and a #2 ranking, the highest ranking they've had since 1997, their only NC year since pre-1950. So dismissing 2006 as a bad year is rather delusional as well.

Ah, there's the rub.

Look at ND a few year's back. CW would lead them to glory. And after his first season glory was just around the corner.

Now as we enter his fourth year at the helm he has created new expectations where the 6-5 that cost Willingham the same job will provide evidence of resurgence.

I am among those who believe RR will win at UM - and do so sooner rather than later. But setting aside bowl games, Carr's last 5 seasons included records of 11-1, 10-2 and 9-2. The margin for improvement over that is pretty small.

But IMO there is a more interesting question for UM fans, particularly in light of the Boren and Mallet losses. UM for Mallett was bad for both. It would not have prepared him for the NFL and he would not have worked well in RR's spread. That may have been the case for Boren as well. Maybe RR doesn't send OL to the league because that type of player doesn't fit in his program.

So fine, if he wins consistently does it matter? I think so.

If 4 years from now UM is only sending half the players to the NFL that they are today they are no longer UM - they are WVU. And if that happens when the day comes that RR does leave UM will have more to rebuild than their roster.

If Notre Dame beats Michigan the Chicago/East Coast press believes, until proven otherwise, that they're the best team in the east and Midwest. Michigan State has them in East Lansing and then they get Purdue at home. Sweep that series and they will be a legit top 10 team. That's one of the biggest reasons to root for Michigan at least once a year IMO.

I'll root for anyone, to include SEC teams and 22 al qaeda pedophiles, vs scUM now that RR is in charge.

I hope Michigan gets their asses handed to them every time they play.

While I understand what you are saying, I disagree. I hope Michigan gets beat by one team all year and that's us, not that I hate the rest of the big 10, and I do enjoy watching them lose, but they seem to be considered the "second best" by the media. While I think people are over-estimating them, I also understand that there is a need for other teams in the big10 to be good, and as it stands, tsun seems to, well, need to be #2.

9/13/2008 is going to be a nauseating day. RR vs. CW. We need to start our official BP meteor strike prayer chain going now...

Start it? Who the hell broke it? I've been doing the meteor dance for many, many moons now.

Some dream of curing cancer or world peace. I simply want to rid the world of about 100,000 of its biggest assholes in one glorious fireball of destruction and have it captured on video to be relived for generations to come.

Call me a dreamer but I'll continue to root for the meteor one Saturday every fall.

Perhaps we need to distinguish levels here:

Michigan fans... assholes
Tennessee fans... flaming assholes
Duke basketball fans... complete flaming assholes
Notre Dame fans... complete flaming assholes with oak leaf clusters.

You have scUM fans waaayyy too low. Give NoD fans the silver oak leaf cluster and the scUM fans the gold oak leaf cluster.

Actually I think both groups should be 4 star complete flaming assholes.

I Give Michigan their rating because they belong to the Big 10. We get a chance to abuse them every year and we need them to keep Notre Dame(who we DON"T get the chance to abuse every year) in place.

A post from an hilarious thread from Stadium & Main where (obviously depressed) scUMers are raking their rivalries:

Extra motivation, especially for the guy lining up across from him.

HTM: I tried to put myself in your place as the entire post-Lloyd saga started and I've got to say, you've held up a lot better than I would ever have. Hats off to you. I enjoy your posts and respect your position... most of the time

That said, at some point you've got to wonder if there would be a lot of extra motivation for the guy lining up across from him, of course, should he come to tOSU. Frankly, at this rate, how many of Lloyd's kids would really be around and even remeber who he was? With the dismissive attitude from the coach, it's unlikely that his name would ever be mentioned again.

Either way, it's a sad day when a player looses the faith. On a much smaller scale I lost a lot of faith in our program when Coop was here. Not because of his rather untimely losses, but because I thought that he went about coaching all wrong. This is what I see happening in AA. Ask the players if they think that RR is going to have success at tsun and I'm sure they would all say yes. However, ask those same guys to assess the way he goes about getting that success and I'm sure that you'd see far less of a positive response.

It's a sad day for you, and I really am sorry for your loss.
