Yeah, Meatchicken. Just as some folk seem to pronounce the name of the "Cesspool of the West". From my perspective, they are all good. From Ann Arbor is a whore to Meat to Cesspool of the West. They are all winners in that they describe the enemy. It's all in good fun and I enjoy them all equally.

Don't forget Vulvarines.

The real "pain" is if Boren walks on at OSU for reasons Jwin outlined in the Boren thread. The consequences as it regards Michigan's 08 O line are probably like you say - what's the difference between 4 lousy linemen and 5? But, the consequences for recruiting could be severe - especially if Boren were to come to OSU and earn a starting job after sitting a year.

Edit: Not sure that I worded the first sentence real well. I mean, Jwin outlined the potential impact well in the Boren thread, not that Jwin outlined reasons why Boren would walk on at OSU.
That....that would be quite the roundhouse kick in the face. sand, I appreciate your words, truly I do, but if Justin Boren ends up a Buckeye, I may resort to saying things that might cause you to retract them. Certainly, players transfer for a multitude of reasons, which I don't hold against them. But shifting allegiances to Columbus? I wouldn't take kindly to that, to say the least.

That'd be a situation where there's no way to pretend there's enough water in the glass to call it half full. Bad all around. I'd be dissecting clouds for silver linings at that point. I think I'd find it in that the Game, with a former teammate now wearing the other colors, would become a lot more personal for the players. Extra motivation, especially for the guy lining up across from him.

The intangibles are a good point. I have no idea what kind of leadership Boren provided or was expected to provide for the line.

Still, I stand by what I said. There is no difference between four lousy offensive linemen and five lousy offensive linemen. (Though it's fair to wonder if Boren's departure means it's more likely we end up with lousy lineman than good ones.) Remember though, I have a wee bit more faith in the coaching staff than you guys do. I trust them to have something figured out when it comes to teaching somebody to step up.

But there is a huge difference between 5 good offensive lineman and 4 good offensive lineman and one lousy offensive lineman. While I see what your saying when you say that Shilling, et al must step up, the loss of Boren means another player who wasn't good enough to start before Boren transferred is going to be replacing him. For simplicity's sake, you just replaced your best offensive lineman with your 6th best offensive lineman. And that is bad no matter how you spin it. If the other guys all play really badly and so does Boren's replacement, then it didn't really matter anyways. If the other guys all play extremely well and Boren's replacement plays really badly, then its a huge blow to your team.

This is the kind of thinking that gets teams beat. :)

Well maybe BP shouldn't be so gleeful, so let's allow the "enemy camp" through Brian (he of mgoblog) on AOL Fanhouse give their prognostication ...

A memorial service for Michigan's bowl streak -- longest in the nation -- is tentatively planned for December 1st.
Because he figures on this much offense ...
"wide receiver Greg Mathews, tight end Carson Butler, and the aforementioned Schilling. Michigan now has three scholarship interior linemen on campus, a freshman quarterback slated to start, and an entirely new offensive system to absorb by August."

Which would mean he's worried the win tally is sub-6.

His mgblog take on this?

I like this quote:

I'd rather see 1 or 2 4-6 loss seasons and then BCS wins in our future then watch 4 more years of what we've had.

RR has shown that he can get it done at the highest level. If we have a rocky start then so be it. The guys that stick around will be winning us championships.

Since when did the Big Least become "the highest level?" Since when did losing to an overmatched Pitt squad become evidence of "getting it done?"

Also, the previous 4 years included going into The Game in 2006 with a perfect record and a #2 ranking, the highest ranking they've had since 1997, their only NC year since pre-1950. So dismissing 2006 as a bad year is rather delusional as well.

If this response, on the part of the "fanbase" of our greatest rival, wasn't so morbid , I'd be prone to yawn.

These spoiled brats have become permanently unhinged. Is it just me, or has this become a ledge these fools seem to occupy seasonally (or even weekly) of late?

It's sad to see this happening at TSUN. It makes me wonder if they really needed a new football coach to resuscitate their competitiveness, as much as they need a new fan base to resuscitate their honor... :shake:
