AD, recruits look to future

By Daniel Bromwich, Daily Sports Editor

The Michigan men's basketball program is already looking ahead after coach Tommy Amaker was fired Saturday.

Amaker had recruited a class that included two top-40 players, Alex Legion and Manny Harris. Many worried that if Amaker was released, those incoming freshmen would no longer come to Michigan.

"When I heard the news from him this morning, I was just shocked and pretty disappointed, because he was the coach that I wanted to play for," Legion said just hours after the announcement. "But I do realize that that's a part of the business, and I'm still committed to the University of Michigan, because I want to make a change and a difference."

Legion added that he had talked to Harris, and the Detroit native would also attend Michigan in the fall.

Even more classic are sideline pre-halftime interviews when either 1) he's not in the mood for talky-talk or 2) he is asked a stupid question.

I thought both were usually true. Is Carr EVER in a talky mood? And sideline reporters don't seem to ever come up with a good question.

I can't remember the game. But he was asked a really stupid question by someone right before halftime. And he just looked at her, and walked away.

After a weekend of trying to remember what it was like to have a team in the NCAA tournament, we almost missed out on a story about a total asshole move by former Wolverine Gabe Watson. But, thanks to Deadspin, we bring it to you now.

In a nutshell, before Watson left Michigan, he bought a Dodge Charger which his old high school coach was cool enough to co-sign for (totally legal under NCAA rules and known to the Michigan athletic department at the time). But, as Deadspin writes, "Watson and his dad were supposed to make the payments, they didn't, it became Jones' responsibility, and, well, high school coaches don't have $500+ a month to burn on an NFL player's Dodge Charger."

Late breaking news on the Arrington situation. Love the take on Vloyd's presser behavior.... EDSBS link

Lloyd Carr won?t clarify this, however, since Lloyd Carr?s service menu when facing the media consists of:
1. Grumble.
2. Fuck you.
3. Fuck you, dickbreath.
4. Your clothes?give them to me now.

They should add line 5 for Carr in reponse to line 4: "Ah'll not be bahk"...
