Michigan should have zero trouble getting one or two top option style QBs to come in.

But, Michigan's biggest need has been good defensive backs. And a great secondary coach.
Actually, it's a strength and conditioning program. But, a good DB would be a nice start. Cissosko is pretty good. Not that he'll revive the Michigan secondary all by himself, but he's a decent start.

I would say they need

1a)modern and mandatory S&C program
1b)decent coaching of the fundamentals especially in the secondary
2) talent upgrade in the back 7
3) more physical toughness

Good luck adjusting to the 3-3-5. I just don't take that D very seriously, I guess.

It seems to throw people off for a while but once they figure out the blocking schemes it becomes appearant it was being run to mask a lack of talent.

I think its a very bad matchup(for scUM) for power running teams but to be fair they are becoming fewer and fewer in the B10. OSU, Wisky, maybe MSU and PSU are the only teams that feature the run from a more traditional look and not from the spread. 5 years ago you run that D in the B10 and it would get brutalized(still might).

They S&C program isn't mandatory? High school football programs have mandatory S&C.

my understanding is that it was not under the previous regime or at least it was very lax.

Maybe one of our tsun members could shed some light

No idea. I can't imagine that the weight room was somehow optional.

RR has, however, brought with him Mike Barwis and his whole team of S&C guys, and this is supposedly a very, very good thing indeed. (For us, I mean.) From what I've read WVU athletes have sworn by his methods, and he whips them into shape like no other.
