I don't know what all the fuss is about. It's obvious LSU has the best defense college football has seen in over a decade.

/sarcasm off

I SWEAR TO GOD IF I HAVE TO READ ONE MORE ARTICLE ABOUT HOW GOD DAMN DOMINANT THE SEC IS AND HOW THEY'RE HEAD AND SHOULDERS ABOVE EVERYONE ELSE IN COLLEGE FOOTBALL I AM GOING TO FUCKING KILL MYSELF. GOD DAMN I GO TO SLEEP EVERY NIGHT PRAYING WE PLAY LSU IN THE SUGAR BOWL AND BEAT THE LIVING SHIT OUT OF THEM AND BUCKEYE NATION UNANIMOUSLY GIVES A BIG "FUCK YOU" TO ESPN AND EVERY FUCKING ARROGANT SEC FAN ALIVE.

Chris Fowler mentioned here that
"LSU's nasty defense has held opponents to zero or negative yards in almost half its plays this year."

I wonder if our stat gurus here can tell us how tOSU D has done in that area. It sure felt that a lot of plays happened in our opponents' back field so far. I'd be curious to know the actual number. Thanks.

Here's how the top of my AP ballot looks after consecutive shakeup Saturdays:

1. LSU. I've had the Tigers here since the day after they beat the Hokies.

2. Cal. Wins at Oregon and over Tennessee trump anything Ohio State has done.

3. Ohio State. Defense has surprised me. But ask this: Do the Bucks' fans who remember the BCS smackdown really want another title shot against LSU ? in the Superdome?

I'm calling bullshit!

This is pretty funny though talking about hard to reach campuses for game days:

None of the above really applies if you are involved in the HCP, of course.

That would be the Herbstreit Charter Program, wherein commercial flights carrying regular folk are bypassed in favor of corporate jets. Under those parameters, all games are reached by "One-Flight-No-Drive." Unless I am attending a Rutgers game just through the Lincoln Tunnel, that program can't be beat.

But I am not bitter.

This secondary is reminding me of the 1998 secondary of Plummer, Winfield, Moore and Berry. With 3 lockdown corners this is probably secondary in the nation. I can't wait to see James Scott either as I think he shows a lot of the same abilities.

I think the D's first real acid test will come against Illinois. They seem to have a lot of speed spread around between the QB, RB, and WR positions. On top of that, they play us tough even when they stink.

From what I saw yesterday I have to believe if Iowa can stop IL with their athletes, we certainly should be able to do it. I stayed up till the end of the Indians game and checked in on all the ESPN channels to hear what they were saying. The ESPN folks on all 4 different channels were having major trouble naming us #1 at this point. IMHO our D is at least as good as any I've seen this year. :)

Who the fuck cares what ESPN says or *insert 'guru' here* says? Fuck them. All that matters is what we do on the field. I'm tired of people bitching about talking heads. They're meaningless.

I agree. In any given season, if Ohio State wins all of its games, the talking heads are pretty much worthless. Despite Trev Alberts's best attempts, Ohio State made it to, and won, the 2002 National Championship game. And that was against what ESPN considered the "greatest college football team of all time". (Of course USC has since taken that title from Miami.) And I'm sure that there were plenty of other talking-heads who considered Ohio State unworthy to be in the game.

LSU...any defense that gives up 34 points in regulation , is not the best in college football.
You give up that many you deserve to loose! :tongue2:
Kentucky barely beat sucky L'ville!
LSU's offense in not close to what it was last year.
