I agree. In any given season, if Ohio State wins all of its games, the talking heads are pretty much worthless. Despite Trev Alberts's best attempts, Ohio State made it to, and won, the 2002 National Championship game. And that was against what ESPN considered the "greatest college football team of all time". (Of course USC has since taken that title from Miami.) And I'm sure that there were plenty of other talking-heads who considered Ohio State unworthy to be in the game.

No kidding. The OSU boards are full of "waa ... Mark May said this" and "waaa ... Stupid Dumbdumb Head said that." Good Gawd, don't even watch the critics' shows if you're gonna get upset at any slightly negative thing they say about the Bucks.

LSU...any defense that gives up 34 points in regulation , is not the best in college football.
You give up that many you deserve to loose! :tongue2:
Kentucky barely beat sucky L'ville!
LSU's offense in not close to what it was last year.

Actually, it was 27 in regulation. :wink2:

Got tickets for the MSU game. Can't wait to see how our defense looks against a team that actually can run the football. (Ringer's almost got a thousand yards already and Caulcrick has 13 TDs) Of course, if we get up by a lot early, it probably won't matter that MSU has some running backs. Anyway, call me crazy, but I'm pumped for the stretch run so we can see how our "D" does against some respectable competition. Let the real season begin! Time to really get nasty fellas!

Composite by-quarter scoring so far:

......1Q...2Q...3Q...4Q
OSU....7...14....3...14
YSU....0....3....3....0

OSU....0....3...10....7
AKR....2*...0....0....0

OSU....0....3...14...16
WASH...0....7....0....7

OSU...28...17...13....0
NW.....0....0....7*...0

OSU...14....9....3....7
MINN...0....7....0....0

OSU...14....3....3....3
PUR....0....0....0....7

OSU....7...28...10....3
KSU....0....0....0....3

OSU...70...77...56...50 = 253 (36.1)
OPP....2...17...10...17 =..46 ( 6.6)

* non-offensive score

Take away the safety and kickoff TD, and the defense has given up 37 points (4 TDs, 3 FGs) in 7 games, or 5.3 ppg.

Also, outscoring our opposition 147-19 in the first half is pretty mind-boggling...

Lastly, the defense not surrendering a single fucking point in the first quarter all year is even more mind-boggling...

That's good stuff. Someone toss him a GPA.

FYI, I noticed a typo. For the Akron first quarter score you wrote down "non-offensive score".

70-2 in the 1st quarter? :yow1:

As good as last years D was, there was a tendency to allow teams to move the ball on us and even score early, particularly the 1st drive, before buttoning up. Not so this year...seems the only points being allowed are in "garbage time". This defense is just scary good.

Not a typo...Akron's offense didn't score that safety, their defense did. That's why I took it off of our defensive points allowed total...

3. Ohio State. Defense has surprised me. But ask this: Do the Bucks' fans who remember the BCS smackdown really want another title shot against LSU ? in the Superdome?

I guess Crisp Fouler forgot that despite the geographical location of the game, it's a neutral site, and so Ohio State will be allocated just as many tickets as would LSU...and we'll use every single fucking one of them, and more.

For Bowl games, they typically allocate 1/3 to each school and 1/3 to the host city. It stands to reason that LSU fans would get more of the 1/3 that go to the host city (if that's how they're allocated for the game).

But all of this is begging the question: OF COURSE we want another shot at an SEC team. Does anyone REALLY think that we don't want a shot at redemption??

No, no... We should be afraid of the SEC, right?

*sheesh*

And oh by the way, I for one found the safety scored by Akron to be highly offensive.

I guess he doesn't know what being a fan is like. I would rather lose in the title game 41-14 every year for the next 10 years than win any other bowl game. We play for big 10 titles and national titles. If we are in the title game, we know that we accomplished one of our goals (and beat Michigan!). It is tough to swallow a loss like that but the journey to that game more than makes up for it.

yes, then we have the whole "bowl game collapse" persona that hangs over Carr's head. Its still possible to beat Michigan and make a bowl game you know
