I think the illinois defense is much easier to defend than the Wisconsin team... thats just me though.. Juice has zero credibility as a thrower. We know we can stack the box and not get burnt on the back end. Hopefully the defense shows up and makes my worries.. just that... WORRIES.

I always find defenses easy to defend, so much easier than trying to defend somethings say like an offense which usually has the ball and can score a lot more than defenses can.

Considering that P.J. Hill didn't play, and many of the sacks, which subtracted from their rushing total, came during comeback mode, the numbers probably aren't quite as good as the box score would suggest.

It seemed to me there were intensity issues in today's game. Our guys on D didn't seem to come "alive" until Wisconsin went up by 7. The first time we had them pinned against their own endzone, Wisconsin had a big run in which Jenkins whiffed on a tackle--I don't think that's happened all season. On a big pass play in the 1st half, it looked like D. Washington wasn't trying to shed his man to make the tackle on the guy streaking down the sidelines, but was rather trying to sell/get a holding call from the refs. I know that hasn't happened all year. I think the coaches and players will be able to improve by watching film of the third quarter.

Our D after Wisconsin took the lead was superior. Gholston just flat brought it today, and Thaddeus Gibson rocked Donovan's world on his sack.

haha ya got me there bestbuckeye... Man I was up till 4 am because I couldn't sleep last night so ya gata give me a break haha j/p. It was like christmas waking up this morning!

The defense is still on point no doubt, but I think we still need to shore up a little bit of some area's... What team doesn't though?

you're right though.. the intensity wasn't there at first but maybe that was the whole hang over effect?? we didn't play well on either side until beanie started going nuts

lol I don't care bout our PPG average anymore because it hsould be like -304 I look at the other stats though... under 10 points is fine by me man

Does anyone really wish they'd leave Jenkins alone and leave him at corner?? I think moving him into the safty position has kind of messed with his feel for the game a bit. Do we move him just so we can have Anderson in the Donte whitner mold?

The name of the game in today's brand of college football is offense. Every team that you play, especially in conference play, even the Big 10 :wink2:, is going to have someone that can make a play. You cannot stop every single play for minus yardage. There are just too many good players, too many good schemes, and, to be honest, a mentality of today's defensive players to go for the highlight kill shot, rather than making the sound fundamental tackle. This lends itself to giving up the occasional big play, even for a great defense. The Bucks are playing the best team defense in the nation, regardless of opponent. My advice is to enjoy the moment.

Agreed, but you have to go back to what Woody used to say about how difficult it is to get the team "up" for two big games in a row. After the Penn State game last week, I was half-expecting an even bigger hangover than what we saw, and a closer final score.

Ohio State is the only team in the country that has yet to give up 100 points (97).

West Virginia, at 119 points, is the only other team to give up fewer than 120. The Mountaineers have played 2 fewer games.

At 9.7 ppg, OSU leads the nation in scoring defense by 3.7 ppg.

There are 8 teams (including #2 Kansas) within 3.7 ppg of second place.

The next 3.7 ppg gap comprises #10 through #30 in scoring defense.

And this is after OSU has given up the season maximum in points 3 games running.

Each week it seems to be different people making plays......Yes , of the usual suspects are lights out ......but I loved the play of that entire D-line (worthington,Larimore,Abdallah).
Also does Gholston have a nickname?? if not it should be the Incredible Hulk ( the broadcasters said they foung out he squats 400 some odd pounds.....20x's )

The instance they are referring too is when he squatted 455 lbs 20 times. He mentioned in a BN article that it was the lift that most impressed his teammates.

Personally, I was a little disappointed by all of the big plays Wisconsin had. It seemed to me like, when we got them in down and distance, we started going for the jugular instead of just making the play and stopping them. Sure, an INT is great, but them punting is just as good, and we seemed to be trying too hard for the big 3rd down sack or INT and didn't focus on getting the D off the field. But, after Wisconsin went up, our defense really showed up and it was good to see.

Also, I still feel like we are weak between the tackles. The good news here is this is partly due to injuries, which we can heal from. Also, Illinios is much better outside, where we are just deadly, than between the tackles. tSUN is going to be a hell of a battle though. When they come behind Long and Kraus with Hart, who doesn't go down easily, its going to tell us a lot about our D-line.
