2007 NFL Draft (Projections/Mock Drafts/Evaluations/Draft)

I agree, but the collarbone was a freak thing. He healed VERY quickly from his ankle injuries his sophomore year. I do think hes going to get hurt, especially with his physical running style, and I'd like to see Droughns get some of his carries next season, although he really doesn't contrast well with Peterson.

The AP issue is only magnified with the fact that the AFC North is one of the more physical and tougher conferences to play in, especially from November on. Add to that Cleveland is a between the tackles running team (at least in theory, although nobody has seen them do it in about 4 years), it only amplifies the liklihood that AP gets hurt.

If the plan is for he and droughns to each get about 10-15 carries a game, then maybe it works out. however, it's hard to justify using the #3 pick on a rb that needs to split carries because he can't physically handle the full time job.

Wimbley got injured once, on a chop block, and missed a couple of games. AP injured himself for most of a season (clavicle) one year and another year he picked up some nagging injuries doing his job. AP has missed significant playtime in 2 seasons and hasn't gone through a single season uninjured since his Freshman year.
Given that RB is one of the most physically demanding positions and players get burned out pretty quick, I think it's pretty ridiculous to pass off his injuries. I'd be fine if the Browns did pick him -- he could turn out to be great and is probably worth the risk-- but he does come with major injury and durability concerns.
You're not seriously comparing injuries of a defensive player against those of a oft used RB, are you?

The Rats and Steelers are physical no doubt, but I wouldn't exactly call the Bengals a physical team on defense (they're more physical off the field:wink:)

Watching AD play, one notices that he never shys away from contact - in college he can get away with that, hes going to get pummeled if he tries that on Sundays. I don't know where you're getting that he can't handle the load......he did it for three years in college sans injuries. If anything, him splitting carries is to ensure he doesn't get worn down his first season, a la Carnell Williams. If we take AD, I fully expect him to be the full time guy by his second year, and Droughns off the team.

I'm not in the mood for pissing contests this morning. It was obvious to me that King took the conversation where it went when he essentially claimed that AP's injuries were inconsequential because Wimbley turned out alright.
If there is something of substance in my post you'd like to disagree about, please feel free to do so.

the logic that a physical style rb that never made it through a 12 game season in college (especially in the less than impressive big 12) will be able to do so through 16 games in the AFC north is a bit baffling to me.

he made it through his freshman season buddy...

and the big 12 has been to the national championship two out of the past three seasons, and won it once. this isn't the WAC we're talking about here.

I for one am not worried about his durability and any team would be lucky to have him.

If he would have come out after his freshman year, I doubt anyone would be making the negative comments they are now.
