2007 Cavs Free Agent/Trade Rumors

I want Corey Brewer... 6'8" defenders at the point are show stoppers....

Julian Wright is another one that will fit that mold as well, as long as guys like Byars, and a couple of the foreign players...

If we can hold on to Sasha we have him and LBJ as the long defenders like that, so that is not a huge need for us...

As mentioned by many, our main need is a guy that can run the point, and maybe some help in the frontcourt if we lose Andy, and with Z getting up there in years...

I wouldn't like Brewer even if it was possible to get him(which it isn't). He's a big, defensive, slashing two guard. He can't play point and he's not a good shooter. He's basically a less injury prone Larry Hughes(I think he'll be better than Hughes easily, but I'll wait to see how he adjusts to the NBA before making that call).

Ray Allen would be a nice addition, especially if it had been 2 years ago instead of Larry Hughes.

New Seattle SuperSonics GM Sam Presti has to figure out what to do with Ray Allen, who could be on the move if Presti decides to completely rebuild.
The Sonics turned down the Toronto Raptors' offer of the No. 1 pick last June for Allen, but the Chicago Bulls and Cleveland Cavaliers are just two of the teams expected to try to get Allen if he's put on the block.

Right. Hughes was no where near choice #1. Will he ever shoot better than 40%? Not as long as he continues to take jumpers.

Hughes was AT BEST the #3 option that year. Redd and Allen were 1 and 2. I'm not sure how hard they went after Joe Johnson either.

Two words for this offseason (I'm not exactly sure how they'll get it done, though):

Jose Caldron.

I don't think they offered Johnson because it was widely known tha tPhx would match any offer. I'm not sure, but I don't think Johnson went to Atl just becasue they(Phx) refused to match the offer. Did it end up being a sign and trade? I would have loved to have gotten Johnson.

I agree with the Calderon wish. He's due to double his contract soon and I can't see them paying big $ for him and Ford. I'd gladly take either. I'd send the Pavlovic for Calderon.

I guess Ferry is trying to buy a first rounder from San Antonio and he's still trying to get Udrih from them. I guess he loves his game. We'll have to watch for that.

One guy who hasn't been mentioned if the Cavs do buy into the second round is Aaron Brooks. He is a little bit undersized but he can shoot the lights out and has great quickness. Another possible target is a PG from Finland named Petteri Koponen. He is outstanding dribbling and handling the ball and knows how to distribute. He has a solid jump shot that he can improve upon because he is still young. The only downfall to him is that he might have to spend a year or two over in Europe a la Ginobili. However, I think this guy could be an excellent player when he does come to the NBA and I want to see the Cavs make a solid run at him.

Well, I see that Sessions didn't get drafted. I wonder if Ferry will take a flyer on him. It would surely be worth it. He may just go back to school but I don't know if he hired an agent or not. What do you know CBF40 ?

Ferry: Cavs made good decisions
Friday, June 29, 2007
BY Mike Popovich
REPOSITORY SPORTS WRITER

CLEVELAND All was quiet at Quicken Loans Arena on Thursday.

No picks plus no movement added up to a pretty uneventful NBA Draft night for the Cavaliers.

The Cavs? attempts to acquire a pick were unsuccessful. Getting a high pick would have been next to impossible, and the likelihood of the Cavs being a participant, period, did not seem possible as the night wore on.

?Walking into the draft with no picks, our goal was to explore and try to get one of the 15 guys we really liked and felt could be good NBA players,? General Manager Danny Ferry said. ?By the time things started to become available, none of those players were on the board anymore.?
