Sessions was the #56 overall pick to the Milwaukee Bucks.

Shit. There goes that idea.

Brevin Knight, maybe, now that he's a f.a. Not a great shooter, but he's still quick and can do what we need from the position. I guess with this team we need any new players to be shooters.

Brevin Knight is too small in my opinion. Same for Boykins. We're a defensive team first and foremost, so we can't really have such huge defensive mismatches on the floor. Neither really brings what we're looking for in a PG either.

We need a distributor and a good shooter. Steve Blake is perfect for the Cavs.
I think Humphrey would definitely be worth taking a look at... Lewis obviously too. Humphrey's range would be very helpful with two good slashers (LBJ and Boobie)
I still remember vividly watching him make every damn three he put up against our boys in the Championship game. :smash:

Rizzo on the radio today has said thath Memphis has agreed to terms with Varejao, in the neighborhood of starting at $7 million per.

IMO, Cleveland doesn't match this. $ 7 million per is too much for a backup PF.

Maybe Cleveland works out a sign and trade to get Pau Gasol, who desperately wants out of Memphis.

How about AV + Z for Gasol and Mike Miller?

probably so. but look at memphis' lineup.

stromile swift is an expiring contract, and will likely be dealt in the near future. They have Gasol at center who has made it widely known that he wants out of memphis in the worst way. They also have Miller and Gay both at the 3 with Warrick getting most of the starts at the 4. So, given that, why would they offer a starting contract of $7 million to AV?

Is he going to start over Warrick? maybe. but memphis loves warrick, and limiting him to backup minutes behind AV is stupid. I don't see Memphis signing AV without looking to move a couple guys.

Hmmmm, would love to get Warrick for AV  Or is that just me dreaming or smoking some really nice stuff this morning?

here's where the cavs have a decided advantage.

in addition to having a MLE to use on a FA pg (blake?, boynkins?), Cleveland can still go over the cap to resign AV and/or Sasha. Gilbert has already said that the luxury tax is of no concern to him. Cleveland also has something along the lines of $25 million coming off the books after next season, so they can afford to go over this year.

I would say it's probably doubtful that the Cavs let AV walk without getting something in return.

I agree with you there. As much as I'd love it, Memphis would never do Z and Av for Miller and Gasol. I guess getting anything in a sign and trade is better than letting him walk for nothing. I love Wild Thing but no way am I giving him 8mil per.

I think we'll keep andy at that price. From the Cavs blogs I read, I've been thinking the only way we don't keep Andy is if someone really overpays for him(i.e. something approaching 10 mil per year).

I think 7 million is pretty fair actually. Jason Kapono is getting six, and bigs are always more valuable than smalls in the NBA. If it's long term and Andy develops his offense, this could actually be a steal. It would also free us to move Gooden this offseason.

Noted I don't have to pay the bills, but I would take the 8 mil before I let him walk for nothing. If Varajao walks without someone as good or better in return that shows Lebron that Gilbert isn't willing to do what it takes to build him a winner. Gooden got 6 last year and I think AV is more important than Drew is. I'd offer Memphis the above trade, which they will most likely turn down and then match the offer. I would also look at it if they could somehow work Conley into the deal.
How about Varejao, Gooden, Newble, Wesley, and the 09 first round pick for KG?

IMHO I would not give Andy more than what Drew is getting...

I still don't mind the team that we have as much as some do, I would like to get rid of some contracts and Hughes and get something solid in return...

I would like to bring back Andy, but not at a steep price...Also bring back Sasha...

I would then like to give Lewis, Humprey, Wood, and Visser tryouts.

Then I would really like to make a strong push for guys like Lewis, Mo Williams, Jose Calderon, or Bibby and see if we could snag any of them...

If not I would like to see us sign Steve Blake, and hold still...

I would hate the fact if we made a move or two just for the sake of making a move...

Keep in mind we were just in the finals, and we were very young...If LBJ, Sasha, Boobie, Brown, Drew, and Wild Thing all improve their game some, and with the addition of a guy like Blake to go along with vetrans like Z, Hughes, and maybe another addition to the backcourt I look at that as being a very very solid team, and a team that could compete with the big dogs of the West next year...
